It was a great day spent with Osage Valley and we really appreciate the efforts they put into their training today. We hope we never have to experience this circumstance but it's good to be as prepared as we can.

🚨 INCIDENT UPDATE 🚨
Wednesday Afternoon (8/26) — Tractor & Grass Fire (Outside City Limits)
Crews were dispatched to a tractor fire that started while the owner was out mowing hay. Unfortunately, the tractor itself was a total loss.
🌾 Field Saved: With hot temperatures and a slight breeze working against us, the flames spread to the surrounding grass. Firefighters made a quick attack to get the grass fire under control, successfully keeping it from spreading further and saving the hay field from a major loss.
🤝 Mutual Aid: The department requested mutual aid from the Butler, Foster, and Compton Junction Fire Departments. A massive thank you to these crews—having your extra manpower on a hot day like today is incredibly appreciated!

🚨 INCIDENT UPDATE 🚨
Friday Evening (8/21) — Residential Fire, 200 block of E. Elm St.
Crews arrived on scene to find the back of a house burning. Firefighters made a quick knock-down, safely containing all fire damage to the back porch area.
👏 Community Action: A special shoutout to the homeowner and a quick-acting neighbor! Their fast actions helped control the flames until our crews arrived on the scene, making a huge difference in saving the rest of the home.
🤝 Mutual Aid: Thank you to the Butler and Foster Fire Departments for quickly gearing up to assist us. The request was cancelled once the fire was controlled, but we always appreciate knowing you have our backs!
🚒 Our Team: A massive thank you to the 9 Rich Hill volunteers who made a rapid response last night. Great work, team!

Today, the HEAT has caused a statewide shade of PINK. Missouri is looking a little rosy but the temps not so much. 🥵 Hydrate & avoid outdoor activities during the triple digit heat index values these next couple of days. Take the extreme heat warning seriously & stay cool!

On July 25th, area firefighters came together for a mock drill of a residential structure fire with victims trapped inside. Firefighters made forcible entry into the home to search for victims, which included a mixture of training dummies and some of the firefighters' children.

We would like to extend our gratitude to the individuals who allowed us to use this house for training before it is torn down. Exercises like this allow firefighters to hone their skills, preparing them to better serve the community. I am extremely proud of the hard work and dedication these firefighters bring to the area.

***FREE TRAINING OPPORTUNITY***

Brought to you by the Bates County LEPC. This class will be held in Butler Mo. At this time only 3 people have signed up. If interested please go to the sema training website and sign up.

This course will give attendants the skills and knowledge to safely respond and mitigate saddle tank leaks. Saddle tank leaks can be a challenge during a truck incident. This course will provide knowledge and skills to mitigate the incident. By using the right procedures and the right equipment, saddle tank leaks can be safely mitigated. The course will discuss tank design and construction, hazards of the fuel in the tanks, capacities, limited access to leaks and methods to gain access. Participants will learn to plug and patch different types of saddle tanks using various materials and methods. They will also learn to transfer leaking material using diverse methods, including pumps and other transfer equipment.

Prerequisites: N/A

Equipment or PPE Student Responsible to Bring: Full personal protective gear is required to participate in evolutions. Full PPE (firefighting turn out gear) includes helmet, hood, bunker coat, bunker pants, eye protection, cut resistant gloves, and closed toe shoes.
