Municipal Electric Utilities of Wisconsin (MEUW) recognized 42 member utilities with Safety Achievement Awards for their exemplary safety performance in 2025. Recipients were honored during a ceremony held in conjunction with the 96th Annual Conference on May 14.

Award recipients are recognized for their dedication to maintaining a safe work environment through adherence to safety regulations, implementation of safe work practices, and a culture of looking out for one another. The award criteria emphasize leading indicators of safety performance, focusing on proactive measures that help prevent incidents before they occur. MEUW has presented Safety Achievement Awards annually since 1999.

In addition to employee commitment, the award acknowledges the vital role of utility management and governing boards in fostering a culture of safety. This includes providing employees with the necessary equipment, resources, and training to perform their duties safely and effectively while continually enhancing their skills.

After 44 years of dedicated service to electric line work, Randy Larson is heading into a well-deserved retirement. His passion for training and keeping lineworkers safe is truly unmatched in Wisconsin. We've been happy to have his expertise on the MEUW team since 2018 and wish him all the best. Honor Randy’s legacy and remember to always !

We would like to take a moment to recognize our Wastewater Professionals! We appreciate you all and the service you provide to our community!

Our RLU Wastewater Crew stands in front of the 1,500,000 BTU/Hr. heat exchanger they monitor and maintain daily. The plant treats with Anaerobic digestion treatment where microorganisms break down organic matter in the absence of oxygen, reducing sludge volume, and destroying pathogens. This process produces 13,262,662 Cu.Ft. of methane rich energy annually. The biogas is used to maintain the primary digester (240,000 gallons) at a constant temperature of 95 degrees F. The remainder of biogas is used to heat buildings and water to use for daily operations, cleaning and showers.
