Benjamin's House

Benjamin's House Our Mission:
Working together with others to provide shelter, food, support services and
an avenue for self-sufficiency for the homeless and people in need.

Located in a former convent, Benjamin's House Emergency Shelter was founded by concerned members of the Rice Lake community who recognized the growing need for emergency housing.

🎉🎂 Wishlist Wednesday looks a little different this week at Benjamin’s House! Please help us wish these two a Happy Birthday! 🎂🎉

Birthdays are extra special when it is a parent and child sharing their birthday together. 💙 What a beautiful reminder that even during difficult seasons, moments of joy, love, and celebration still matter.

We feel so blessed they were able to spend their special day here at Benjamin’s House, surrounded by care, support, and community.

A HUGE thank you to Ashley Headley with State Farm and her Team for helping make birthdays extra special for our clients! Because of generous community support like this, we can continue creating meaningful moments, birthday celebrations, and happy memories for the families we serve. 🎈

And thank you to our amazing clients for allowing us to share a little piece of their celebration with all of you.

Please join us in wishing our May birthday stars a very HAPPY BIRTHDAY! 🥳💙

We’re excited to share that another family will soon be moving from Benjamin’s House into permanent housing! ❤️

After today’s move, we’ll be a bit short on items but have more storage space until their move-in date on May 9, so we’re reaching out to our amazing Friends of Benjamin’s House first to see if anyone is able to help.

If you’re not able to donate, that’s absolutely okay—we’ll also coordinate with our partners at St. Vincent de Paul. But since many of you have asked how to help, we wanted to give you the opportunity first.

This is a family of four with children in elementary and middle school, and they are in need of the following items:

Donation Needs (if available):
• Kitchen table and chairs
• Couch, end table, coffee table
• Nightstands
• Bathroom setup:
– Bath mat
– Bath towels
– Shower curtain, liner, and rings
• Toaster
• Starter/basic cookware set

If you have items to donate or questions about drop-off/pickup, please reach out. Your support truly makes a difference in helping families start their next chapter.

Thank you for being such a generous and caring community 💛

No family ever expects to face homelessness—especially with two young children.

In late 2025, a family of four arrived at Benjamin’s House after losing their housing with little notice, forcing them into a hotel and an uncertain future. With children just 4 and 2 years old, the stakes were high—but so was their determination.

What followed was a journey of resilience. Through job changes, childcare challenges, and housing barriers, they stayed committed to building a better future. Step by step, they worked toward stability—saving money, securing employment, and never losing sight of their goal: a safe, stable home for their children.

By 2026, that goal became reality.

Their story is one of persistence, partnership, and the power of community coming together when it matters most.

Every success story starts somewhere—and for Darius, it began with uncertainty, sacrifice, and a deep commitment to family.

After leaving Washington to support his sister and her children, Darius faced unexpected challenges that led him to Benjamin’s House with no plan and nowhere else to turn. What followed was a journey marked by resilience, hard work, and the courage to rebuild—not just his own life, but his relationships as well.

Through determination, long days of work, and the support of those around him, Darius transformed a moment of crisis into a path toward independence, stability, and a future in the U.S. Army.

His story is a powerful reminder that even in the most difficult moments, growth and new beginnings are possible.

The Compassion Closet has been a meaningful part of our community, serving individuals and families with care, dignity, and generosity. We are incredibly grateful for the many volunteers, donors, and partners who have supported this ministry over the years.

This is a season of change for Red Cedar Church’s Compassion Closet ministry. In light of this, Benjamin’s House will continue working closely with Red Cedar to ensure a thoughtful and smooth transition as the ministry concludes at the end of May.

We want to clearly share that this transition is not related to rent, financial concerns, or any increase in rent. Rather, it reflects a season of change and new beginnings.

As Benjamin’s House continues to grow, we are taking time to prioritize how our space and resources can best support our core mission—providing food, shelter, and supportive services to individuals and families experiencing homelessness.

At the same time, we remain committed to meeting urgent needs. Benjamin’s House will be developing a clothing option designed to serve our clients and respond to immediate, emergency situations. We will also intentionally engage with partners who have utilized the Compassion Closet to help ensure those needs continue to be met through both our efforts and strong community collaboration.

This transition reflects a continued commitment to serving people well while strengthening how we work together as a community.

Thank you for your compassion, your support, and your continued commitment to those in need. If you would like to get involved or learn more about how to support this work, we would love to hear from you.

🚗 Friends of Benjamin’s House — we need your help!

Is anyone available to take a trip to Eau Claire this Monday, April 13th?

We have a client who needs a ride as they work toward completing testing for an employment opportunity. This is a big step forward, and your help could make all the difference! 💛

The approved driver would be able to use the Benjamin’s House van, generously sponsored and supported by Casey Watters - Real Estate Solutions Rice Lake WI and Link Motors.

If you’re available or would like more information, please call the shelter 715-736-2437!

Thank you for helping our community move forward—one opportunity at a time. 🙌
