I had about 70 houses left on my door list from yesterday, so I decided to knock them out this morning and early afternoon. I didn't want to leave anything on the table - and caught some people before they voted. The snow was coming down pretty hard, but wasn't too bad. I kind of like it (rain is much worse). I should have gotten some pictures.

I definitely put in the work on this campaign, and am very interested to see how it goes. I'm feeling good about it though. I had a really good response from people in the district. We'll see starting in about ten minutes.

Thank you to everyone who has supported me and helped out. It means a lot, I truly appreciate it!

Happy Easter Everyone! Obviously, no doors today, so I had a little free time for some post-church, pre-dinner disc golf with a couple of my brothers at Yellow Banks Park. It is a nice course along the river, on a nice day and was a good change of pace from campaigning.

Circuit Complete

Here is a bird’s-eye view of the south and western parts of the 36th County Board District from the top of Rib Mountain.

Last weekend I finished canvassing at least some houses on every street in the district – and some I’ve been at two or three times between surveys, nomination signatures and dropping campaign lit. It has taken a few months, and winter isn’t ideal to be going door-to-door, but it has been a great experience getting to know so many residents of the district better and hearing their views.

I’ll continue to work hard these last few days before the election making a final push to hit the houses I haven't been to yet and to turn out the vote.

A secret weapon in my campaign, and I think one of the funnier (and certainly more fun) parts of it has been using my Segway Ninebot to canvass doors. I've done so many doors walking for candidates over the years, and can tell you, oh man, how much easier and efficient doing it this way is. If you can pull it off - and not everyone can - I'd highly recommend trying it. Here are three benefits:
1) It is so much more efficient. If you are in the ex-urbs or other areas with long driveways and places too close to drive, but too far to walk, this makes it a breeze.
2) People remember the person who came to their door riding one of these. And you'll get comments and people talking to you about it.
3) If an unknown guy like me is walking up to someone's door people tend to get a little nervous. No one is threated by some dude rolling up on a scooter.
So if you are in a campaign, and have the means, give it a go.

Yard Signs! If you live in the district and would like a yard sign let me know and I will be sure to get one to you. I have pretty decent coverage in the district so far, but the more up the better. It is nice to have my neighbors supporting me and putting them up. No one will be confused who to vote for if they drive down my street.

My first stop getting nomination signatures to get on the ballot in December was at the house I grew up at in Rib Mountain. Emily and her husband Scott were my first signatures and great to talk to - I ended up turning in the maximum 200 signatures (I put in the work). They love the house and have heard the stories about about me and my brothers and the backyard hockey rink we had there. Maybe their kids will grow up playing hockey too!

It has been a real pleasure getting to know more of you while campaigning these last months. If you're a resident in the district and we haven't met yet I'd be happy to do so and hear what issues are on your mind. Just let me know and we can schedule a meet. Best regards, -Scott
