Tri-County Council is seeking a board treasurer!
We are looking for an individual with professional accounting, bookkeeping, finance, or closely related financial management experience.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
***Accounting experience is required. The ideal candidate will have professional experience in:
*Accounting, bookkeeping, finance, and financial management
*Reviewing financial statements and reports
*Budgeting and monitoring income and expenses
*Reviewing account and bank reconciliation
*Working with accountants, auditors, or tax professionals
*Nonprofit accounting is preferred but not required
*Strong attention to detail, organization, integrity, and confidentiality
*Ability to identify financial concerns, ask questions, and communicate financial information clearly
***A CPA or accounting degree is not required, but demonstrated accounting experience is highly desirable.
Key Responsibilities:
*Review and present financial reports to the Board.
*Monitor the organization’s financial health and budget.
*Review income, expenses, cash flow, and account reconciliations.
*Help ensure appropriate financial controls and accountability are maintained.
*Work with the accountant/bookkeeper to ensure financial records and reports are accurate and current.
*Work with the tax firm/CPA regarding annual tax filings, tax-related questions, and other professional services.
*Help coordinate communication between the Board, accountant/bookkeeper, and tax firm when financial information or clarification is needed.
*Assist with the annual budget and financial planning.
*Participate in audits, financial reviews, and other financial processes as needed.
*Bring significant financial questions, concerns, or recommendations to the Board.
*Maintain confidentiality of financial and organizational information.
*Sign authorized checks/paychecks
Board Member Expectations:
*The Treasurer is expected to attend and actively participate in Board meetings, fulfill Board responsibilities, act in the best interests of Tri-County Council, and support the organization’s mission.
This is an unpaid volunteer Board position.
