FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Vischer Ferry Volunteer Fire Company Responds to Third‑Alarm Residential Fire on Riverview Road

Clifton Park, NY — September 12, 2026 — The Vischer Ferry Volunteer Fire Company responded to a residential fire at 606 Riverview Road, Rexford, NY in the Vischer Ferry Fire District, Town of Clifton Park, after receiving a dispatch at 01:27 this morning. Due to heavy fire conditions encountered on arrival and a lack of fire hydrants in this area of town, both Second and Third alarms were transmitted, bringing additional mutual‑aid fire companies from Saratoga, Schenectady, and Albany Counties to the scene.

The residents were alerted to the fire by their working smoke detectors, allowing all residents and pets to safely evacuate before the fire extended into the roof of the residence.

Despite firefighting efforts lasting several hours, the structure sustained a total loss and required emergency demolition.

No injuries were reported by any occupants or firefighters. All units cleared the scene at 08:13 this morning.

"This incident is a powerful reminder of how critical working smoke detectors are," said Chief Tim Kimball. "Because those alarms sounded early, the occupants had the time they needed to get out safely. With Fire Prevention Month just around the corner in October, we urge every household to test their smoke alarms, check the batteries, and make sure your family has a practiced escape plan."

On this the 25th anniversary of 9/11, we honor and pay homage to those who made the ultimate sacrifice…be they firefighters, police officers, the crew, and passengers on the planes, or those who simply went to work at the Twin Towers or the Pentagon on that fateful day never to return home.

We remember the 4,600 responders and survivors who have died from illness related to the 911 attacks. We remember all the police officers and firefighters who were at Ground Zero.

Let us never forget that we were all Americans on this day…not Republicans, not Democrats, not Christians, Jews or Muslims…not white, black or Hispanic...or any other nationality or ethnicity…we were all Americans…since we were all under attack…we had been attacked because we value freedom above tyranny, we value freedom over a militant, we value freedom over being subservient to an ideology that would undermined our way of life…an ideology of oppression, prejudice, and inhumane treatment of others. Our freedom lives on.

We honor the strength and courage of those families and friends who were left behind to deal with the loss of their loved one…when their lives were turned upside down…when their world ended as they knew it. To honor them is to comfort them.

On this hollow and sacred day, we honor and remember the 246 passengers and crews that died aboard the four planes, the 2,606 who died in the Twin Towers, the 125 who lost their lives at the Pentagon, the 23 NYPD Police Officers, the 37 Port Authority Police Officers, and the 343 FDNY Firefighters…all who made the supreme sacrifice in service to this Country.

The light from the stars that shine down upon us…is the light of their spirit…the stars and their light remind us to never forget…to honor their supreme sacrifice…their light is the light of freedom…their light is the light of courage…their light is the light of love.

The light of their spirit allows our freedom to live on…our freedom endures…let us honor all who perished by putting our differences aside and uniting again as one Country. Their light lives on…our freedom lives on. May they rest in peace…we will never forget.

Wednesday night, our members braved the rain for an important hands-on training drill featuring the in-service of our new Hurst hydraulic ram, along with a refresher on hydraulic rescue tool operations and the latest tips and techniques. A special thank you to Rescue Specialist Ryan Handerhan of MES for sharing his time and expertise, and to Lake Auto Parts for once again being a tremendous partner and providing us with a great location to train.

Our greatest strength will always be our members. The outstanding turnout, despite the wet and dreary weather, is just another example of their dedication and commitment to being prepared when our community needs us most. Thank you to everyone who came out and trained!

🦞 **Lobsterama Update!** 🦞

September is here, and we’re at 455 lobsters sold so far... that’s 25.6% of our goal of 1,776 lobsters for this year’s Lobsterama!

We still have a ways to go, but we’re really happy with the start and excited to see where we can get by October 3rd.

For those who haven’t checked it out yet, we also have our Ready-to-Go Lobster Meat available in 1-pound and 3-pound bags. It’s fresh, pre-cooked and pre-shelled, just the lobster without all the work. Order yours today at vflobsterama.com.

Save the work, enjoy the lobster.

As always, proceeds from Lobsterama help support the Vischer Ferry Volunteer Fire Company and the work we do in our community.

And a big thank you to Tony at the Clifton Park Spark for helping us with our website hosting and stepping in to help us out. We really appreciate the support!

455 down, 1,321 to go. We’ll keep you posted as we work our way toward 1,776! 🦞

CRESCENT ROAD CLOSED BETWEEN OAKWOOD BLVD AND FAIRMONT DR

Please be advised that Crescent Road is closed between Oakwood Blvd and Fairmont Dr, including access from Walnut Drive. This closure is due to a large tree across the roadway, which has resulted in downed power lines and a transformer fire.

Personnel from VFVFC and National Grid are currently on-scene. We anticipate that the road will remain closed for a few hours as crews work to remove the tree and complete repairs.

Please seek alternate routes.

We conducted another successful water supply training exercise last night, utilizing our new 4000-gallon tanker.

Leveraging the water from a single ETA and our tanker, we successfully maintained a continuous flow through two 1 3/4'' hoselines simultaneously for over 13 minutes, without requiring an additional water source.

Additionally, we practiced establishing a portable tank operation, connecting three tanks via a siphon system.
