Motor Vehicle Stop Leads to Arrest

At approximately 11:45am, Detectives conducted a motor vehicle stop on a stolen car. The car fled and crashed a short distance away. The driver fled on foot and was apprehended. The passenger was injured in the crash with non-life threatening injuries.

The driver, Willie Jenkins, a 29 year old Chelsea man was placed under arrest and charged with several motor vehicle infractions along with drug charges.

The passenger will be summonsed into court for several m/v and drug charges as well.

Additionally, police located stolen property in the motor vehicle which they determined was stolen recently from an elderly housing facility in the City.

State 911 Dept: 9-1-1 SERVICES are currently down Statewide. Delays in public safety response may occur. CALL local Public Safety business line directly if you or others are having an emergency.

Also, in case of emergency, pull boxes are all throughout the neighborhoods. Once you pull it, this will dispatch Police, Fire & EMS to the pull box location.
