I joined the community at ViVa! Vienna! this weekend. The festival offers fun, food, and entertainment to support the Rotary Club of Vienna Virginia charitable projects.

But it's a also a solemn occasion to honor Americans who have made the ultimate sacrifice in service for our freedom. Lest we forget, freedom is never free. β€οΈπŸ€πŸ’™

🚨 World-class disaster response, right here in Fairfax County. 🚨

Last week, our Urban Search and Rescue Team wrapped up an intensive 96-hour, full-scale exercise with the Los Angeles County Fire Department, simulating a response to a 7.9 magnitude earthquake.

I got to see these incredible first responders in action as they practiced their life-saving skills. We often see this team deploying around the globe after major disasters, and while that makes me incredibly proud, I'm even happier knowing that this exact expertise is on-call locally to keep our own community safe.

Thank you to our first responders for your dedication and readiness! πŸ§‘β€πŸš’πŸ‘

I observed the the specially trained first responders from Virginia Task Force 1 Urban Search and Rescue in action recently. They exercised responding to a 7.9 magnitude earthquake.

Their 200 specialists include Fairfax County firefighters, doctors, structural engineers, canines and many others skilled in finding and rescuing people trapped beneath the rubble.

I'm so proud to have these lifesaving heroes here in Fairfax County!

No matter your faith, the color of your skin, your background, who you love, or how you identify: You belong in Fairfax County.

In the wake of the tragic shooting at a San Diego mosque, the Board of Supervisors has proclaimed today the Day to End Hate.

To mark this day, we gathered leaders and representatives from multiple faith communities to stand shoulder-to-shoulder. Together, we are sending a clear, unified message: hate and bias have no home here. 🀝❀️

🎨 Celebrating 35 years of incredible art! 🎨

What a privilege to join Tephra Institute of Contemporary Art at their annual Art Festival this morning to present an official proclamation honoring this premier regional event’s 35th anniversary.

A personal highlight was meeting festival founder Judith Forst β€” who was even rocking the original t-shirt from the very first festival! πŸ‘•βœ¨

Huge congratulations to all the outstanding artists who received the inaugural Judith Forst People's Choice Award today. Thank you for bringing so much creativity and inspiration to our community!

Big thanks too to festival sponsors Capital One, BXP Reston Town Center and Reston Town Center Association.

Help celebrate a local hero! 🌟

Rosa Simon has been named the 2026 Hunter Mill District Community Champion by Volunteer Fairfax!

For 17 incredible years, Rosa's volunteer efforts have supported vulnerable individuals and families in Reston, Herndon, and our surrounding neighborhoods, including through her nonprofit Made in Reston. She's made our community a kinder, stronger place to live.

What a fantastic day on two wheels! πŸš²β˜€οΈ

A huge thanks to everyone who joined us for the 2026 Tour de Hunter Mill. We had a wonderful time exploring the scenic, bike-friendly roads of Vienna together.

It wouldn’t be possible without our incredible partners, especially Fairfax Alliance for Better Bicycling - FABB for organizing another successful ride. And, thanks to Meadowlark Botanical Gardens for being our beautiful starting point, and the Town of Vienna, VA - Government for hosting our pit stop for bikers to refuel. Great to see the Bike Club with us too.
