This will be held at the Pie Town Fire Station. Schedule is now as follows:
8-9 Coffee & Refreshments (visiting time)
9-11 CE’s PEDI
11-11:15 Break
11:15-1:15 CE’s PEDI
1:15-2:00 LUNCH
2-4 CE’s TRAUMA
Lunch will be provided at the Pie Town Fire Station. We’ll also have coffee, water and snacks.
CE’s include:
ALTE
Description: Have you ever been paged to a “baby not breathing” or “infant seizure” call, then when you arrive, the child appears fine? If so, you have been on an “ALTE” call. This presentation will explain what ALTE (Apparent Life Threatening Event) is, how to assess and treat the pediatric patient, and why transport via EMS is so important, even though the child now seems fine. Laura Mae will also show videos on types of seizures and discuss them. This Power Point presentation uses cases studies and participant discussion that will send you home understanding ALTE and its potential negative impact on the pediatric patient, especially when the family decides not to have you transport the child.
BABY CAN’T BREATH
Laura Mae will discuss causes of pediatric respiratory dysfunction, how to assess and treat those pediatric patients, and several common & a few not so common causes of respiratory emergencies. Laura Mae has included videos of children in respiratory distress that help you understand the signs & symptoms we so often talk about in class, but you may not have had an opportunity to see as an EMS provider.
MUSCULOSKELETAL INJURIES
Laura Mae has put together a variety of photos of patients with musculoskeletal injuries. This presentation was created so that participants could discuss the injuries, anatomy & physiology, the pathophysiology, and treatment. This presentation is participant driven.
(NOTE: This should be a lot of fun since it is going to be highly interactive discussions.)
This is a great chance to get CE’s! Come for the day, or just for the morning, or just for a session or two. CE’s will be provided on site. Please call me if you have any questions.
Also, if you can, let me know if you plan on attending, or if you have members of your department who will attend. (I’d like to get some rough numbers so I know how best to set up our training room, and lunch.) See you on the Sat, April 25!
