Bring chairs or a blanket and join us on the visitor center lawn.

On Sunday, September 13, join us at the visitor center at 2 p.m. for a program on Civil War medicine presented by one of our volunteer docents.

Experience some of the difficult choices faced by surgeons and soldiers when treating wounded comrades. Discover how medicine and people coped with the most violent conflict in our nation's history in the aftermath of battle.

Letters between Henry and Lucy Fike offer a personal, sometimes funny, and at times heartbreaking glimpse into the lives of people experiencing the Civil War.

Dr. Jeremy Neely, Associate Professor of History at Missouri State University, recently shared their story during the first presentation in the inaugural Remembering the Civil War in Missouri series at the Library Center Hatch Auditorium.

Up next: Join a walking tour of the Springfield National Cemetery as Local History & Genealogy continues exploring the people and stories behind Missouri’s Civil War history.

Join us on the visitor center lawn this September for three free evenings of music at Wilson's Creek National Battlefield. Bring a lawn chair, relax, and enjoy great music as the sun sets over the battlefield.

Northwest Arkansas Heritage Brass Ensemble
Kick off our September Arts-in-the-Parks concert series with an evening of period and other brass music performed by the Northwest Arkansas Heritage Brass Ensemble.

The ensemble has performed at locations throughout the Ozarks, including Pea Ridge National Military Park, the Bella Vista Civil War Round Table, and Wilson’s Creek National Battlefield. We’re excited to welcome them back!

The Holmes Brigade Shirkers
Step back in time with the The Holmes Brigade Shirkers, a group dedicated to recreating the sights and sounds of Civil War-era music.

What began as a small group of musicians gathering around the campfire has grown into a popular Civil War music group performing throughout the Four-State area. Their performances bring Civil War camp life and music to life for audiences of all ages.

Republic Community Band
Close out the September series with the Republic Community Band! Enjoy an evening of concert band music for all ages from this community organization that has been sharing the joy of making music since 1982.

110 years ago, America had a pretty good idea: protect some of its most extraordinary places so all could enjoy them for generations to come. On August 25, 1916, President Woodrow Wilson signed the act creating the National Park Service. Since then, parks have connected us to the landscapes, stories, and people that have shaped the nation, from towering mountains and wild rivers to battlefields, historic spaces, and sacred places.

For over a century, they’ve given us places to explore, learn, remember, and simply stand in awe. And, of course, plenty of reasons to lace up the hiking boots and say, “It’s just a little farther.”

Happy birthday, National Park Service! You’re turning 110 on August 25. This year's National Park Week theme is “Celebrate America’s Story” in honor of the nation’s 250th anniversary.

Wilson's Creek National Battlefield keeps stories of courage and sacrifice alive through programs for all ages.

This week, you can catch a Caravan Tour everyday at 10 a.m. On Saturday, August 29 there will be a Caravan Tour at 10 a.m., Artillery Program at 11 a.m., Junior Ranger Program and Come and Go Programs at 1 p.m.

On Sunday, August 30 there will be a Caravan Tour at 10 a.m., “Should Death be Ranked?” at 1 p.m., and Civil War Medicine at 2 p.m.

Wilson's Creek National Battlefield welcomed a special guest -- Gregory W. Laur, Principal Philanthropic Advisor with the American Battlefield Trust, who visited Wilson’s Creek for the first time!

We’re grateful for the partnership and support of the American Battlefield Trust and its commitment to preserving Wilson’s Creek and battlefields across the country. We’re proud to work together to ensure these important places, and the stories they tell, are preserved for future generations.

The foundation welcomes Cam Collins and Chris Edwards to the board. Cam is a retired partner at RTM Engineering Consultants and Springfield Brewing Company, and volunteers at Wilson's Creek National Battlefield as an artillery demonstrator. Chris is also a volunteer at the battlefield, a member of the Civil War Round Table of the Ozarks, historian and author.

We say goodbye to retiring board members Laurence Bryan and Noah Snelson, pictured here with Vice President Nicholas Inman.

The foundation board is a diverse group of volunteers who share a love of history and preservation.
