Mrs. Knox’s 2nd and 3rd grade class are participating in the 2026-2027 Great Lakes Ugly Bug Contest! For the month of October, her class has been talking everything…BUGS! They are collaborating with Ms. V the art teacher, to create their very own original insect using clay and other art supplies, writing detailed descriptions of their original bugs in ELA, and have been getting hands-on experience searching for crawling and flying critters on school property. They also have talked about outdoor safety, how to respect nature, and cleaned up garbage in the process! Check out the link below to learn more about the Great Lakes Ugly Bug Contest!

🐾 A Friendly Reminder to Our Community 🐾

We love our furry friends, but we kindly ask that if you’re walking your dog around our school grounds, please clean up after your pet. 💩

We’ve had some pet waste left on the track and around the playground, and our students use these areas every day.

Please help us keep our school grounds clean, safe, and enjoyable for everyone. We appreciate your cooperation! ❤️🐶

NOW OPEN through Wednesday, October 14, 2026! The National Rural Health Day Essay Contest

In celebration of National Rural Health Day, recognized each year on the third Thursday of November, the Literacy Legacy Fund of Michigan, the Michigan Center for Rural Health (the State Office of Rural Health) and the NMU Center for Rural Health partner and host the National Rural Health Day Essay Contest.

The contest is open to high school seniors who reside AND attend school in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, are college/university bound the fall 2027 semester and intend to pursue a healthcare career in human medicine.
