"I am humbled to accept this award on behalf of Governor Kathy Hochul, my principal and real-life superhero. She is bold, informed, compassionate, methodical, and has demonstrated to the world, especially in today’s turbulent times, that women no longer need to shrink or comport to fit just anyone’s comfort." ~ Commissioner Harris-Madden

We thank the YWCA of the City of New York for honoring the Governor during the 2025 Salute Gala. The Commissioner noted her appreciation for the YWCA’s work and took a moment to highlight the Governor’s historic investments in child care ($7B+), after-school programs, mentoring, free school breakfasts and lunches, reproductive rights, protection for victims of Domestic Violence, and funding for r**e crisis centers and child advocacy centers.
