The UAE Program for Rain Enhancement Science is an international research initiative designed to advance the science and technology of rain enhancement by offering managed grant assistance to selected teams of researchers.

The next chapter of rain enhancement research begins with collaboration.

As part of the development of its 7th Cycle Solicitation, is hosting the 7th Cycle Solicitation Workshop, bringing together international experts to help refine research priorities and thrust areas that will inform the program’s future direction.

The workshop represents an important milestone in shaping UAEREP’s 2030 roadmap and ensuring the next solicitation reflects emerging scientific opportunities, technological innovation and global research needs.

وفي إطار تطوير وثيقة الدورة السابعة، يستضيف برنامج الإمارات لبحوث علوم الاستمطار ورشة العمل الخاصة بالدورة السابعة لإعداد وتحديث المسارات والمجالات البحثية المستهدفة، بمشاركة نخبة من الخبراء الدوليين للمساهمة في تطوير الأولويات والمسارات البحثية التي ستسهم في رسم التوجهات المستقبلية للبرنامج.

As part of its Roadshow, met with representatives from Australian Rain Technologies (ART), including Chairman Matt Handbury, alongside Prof. Ray Chambers and Dr. Stephen Beare of the University of Wollongong, and Prof. Alan Welsh and Prof. Zhi Yang of the Australian National University.

The discussions explored emerging approaches to rain enhancement research, including measuring rainfall impacts under operational conditions.

The meeting also provided an opportunity to exchange insights on current research activities and explore opportunities for future collaboration across the global rain enhancement research community.

began the Sydney leg of its Roadshow with a meeting at the Climate Change Research Centre (CCRC) at UNSW Sydney, bringing together Prof. Steven Sherwood, Dr. Martin Jucker and Dr. Tim Raupach.

The discussions included knowledge sharing on cloud dynamics, severe storms, hail and broader atmospheric processes, while exploring areas of mutual interest relevant to rain enhancement science.

The meeting also provided an opportunity to exchange insights on current research activities and explore opportunities for future scientific collaboration and engagement.

met with Victoria University leadership in Melbourne, Australia, including Deputy Vice-Chancellor Research & Impact Prof. Andy Hill, Acting Executive Director Prof. Marcelle Cacciattolo and Prof. Hua Wang, for the institutional kick-off supporting the implementation of the project, AI-Driven Development and Optimization of Ice-Nucleating Agents for Cloud Seeding Applications.

The discussions focused on strengthening collaboration between UAEREP and Victoria University, reinforcing institutional support for the project and exploring opportunities for scientific exchange, capacity building and future research partnerships.

The meeting reinforced a shared commitment to the successful delivery of the 6th Cycle project while laying the foundation for broader collaboration between the UAE and Australia in rain enhancement science.

The visit included presentations on regional cloud-aerosol modelling capabilities, laboratory tours and discussions on aerosol-cloud interactions and their relevance to rain enhancement science.

The engagement explored opportunities for future collaboration and knowledge exchange to advance scientific understanding of precipitation processes in arid and semi-arid environments.

The UAE Research Program for Rain Enhancement Science joined one of its 6th Cycle awardees, Prof. Linda Zou, and her research team in Melbourne, Australia, for the technical kick-off of the project, AI-Driven Development and Optimization of Ice-Nucleating Agents for Cloud Seeding Applications, marking the beginning of its Australian Roadshow.

The engagement included project briefings, laboratory tours and discussions on research priorities, experimental design and project milestones that will guide the development of next-generation cloud seeding materials for rain enhancement science.

This marks an important milestone in the project’s implementation and provided an opportunity to align on key objectives, timelines and implementation priorities.

As part of its expanding global engagement, the program will launch the 6th Cycle project ‘AI-Assisted Development and Optimization of Glaciogenic Cloud Seeding Materials’, led by Prof. Linda Zou, while engaging with key scientific and institutional stakeholders across the country.

The roadshow marks a new chapter in UAEREP’s international collaboration efforts, strengthening scientific exchange and advancing research priorities that support the future of rain enhancement science.
