REGIONAL NARCOTICS UNIT ARRESTS SUN VALLEY MAN FOLLOWING DRUG TRAFFICKING INVESTIGATION
APPROXIMATELY SIX POUNDS OF METHAMPHETAMINE, HE**IN, AND CO***NE SEIZED DURING TRAFFIC STOP AND RESIDENCE SEARCH
RENO, NV — The Regional Narcotics Unit (RNU) announced today the arrest of Sun Valley resident Jose Silverio, age 31, following a multi-month investigation into drug trafficking activity in the area of El Rancho Drive and Sun Valley Boulevard.
On August 27, 2026, detectives coordinated with Washoe County Sheriff’s Office K9 deputies to conduct a traffic stop on a vehicle associated with the investigation. During the stop, detectives recovered approximately four pounds of methamphetamine and 56.89 grams of he**in from inside the vehicle. Silverio, who was the driver of the vehicle, was taken into custody at the scene without incident.
Following his arrest, detectives applied for and were granted a search warrant for Silverio’s residence. The subsequent search yielded an additional two pounds of methamphetamine and 16.21 grams of co***ne, bringing the total quantity of narcotics seized to approximately six pounds of methamphetamine, 56.89 grams of he**in, and 16.21 grams of co***ne.
Silverio was transported and booked into the Washoe County Sheriff’s Office Detention Facility on the following charges:
• Trafficking of a Controlled Substance
• Transport of a Controlled Substance
• Possession of a Controlled Substance (3 counts)
• Possession of a Controlled Substance with Intent to Sell (2 counts)
The Regional Narcotics Unit is a multi-agency task force comprised of detectives from the Reno Police Department, Washoe County Sheriff’s Office, Sparks Police Department, and Homeland Security Investigations.
