Northern Nevada Literacy Council provides English as a Second Language, Adult Basic Skills, high school equivalency preparatory instruction and workforce readiness instruction for adults 18 years of age and over. k a high school diploma, GED credential, or sufficient English proficiency to function in the workplace. NNLC was founded in the early 1970’s and incorporated in 1980 as a 501(c)3 non-profit organization. Its primary source of funding is grants through the Adult Education and Family Literacy Act, Title II of the Workforce Investment Act – federal legislation and appropriation that flows through the Nevada State Department of Education, Office of Adult Education. In addition to its local program of instruction, NNLC administers Nevada GED On-Line, an Internet-based statewide program that assists adults in preparing to take the official GED test.
