Sometimes a person who provides support, assistance, or care may misuse that role to gain control over someone else's choices.

Caregiver abuse can happen when support is used as leverage, punishment, or manipulation. Healthy relationships encourage connection, independence, and personal choice.

If someone is making you feel trapped, isolated, or afraid of losing support, talk with a trusted adult, advocate, or support professional.

You deserve support that empowers you, not support that controls you.

This month, our Healthy Relationships for Youth campaign is exploring the topic of Disability & Dating.

Young people with disabilities may experience situations where a partner uses access, support, technology, transportation, or resources to gain control.

Our goal is to help our youth build a strong foundation rooted in self-worth, respect, communication, and healthy boundaries. By equipping youth with the knowledge and skills to recognize healthy relationship behaviors, we can help prevent violence before it starts.

The lessons learned today; about consent, accessibility, power dynamics, and respect, can shape healthier relationships tomorrow.

This June, our Healthy Relationships for Youth campaign is exploring an important topic that doesn't get talked about enough:

♿ Disability & Dating

Throughout the month, we'll be sharing resources, real-life scenarios, expert guidance, and practical tips.

Whether you're a young person, parent, educator, advocate, or trusted adult, these conversations can help you recognize healthy behaviors, identify warning signs, and support the youth in your life.

👉 Follow us and turn on notifications so you don't miss a post.
👉 Share this with someone who works with or cares about young people.
👉 Join the conversation all month long.

Digital consent is an ongoing conversation, not a one-time click.

Here is what you need to know:

Consent can be revoked: Just because you shared an intimate photo once does not mean you consent to it being shared again or anywhere else.

Pressure is a red flag: True consent is freely given. Guilt-tripping or threats are never okay.

Sextortion is a crime: If someone threatens to expose your private images unless you send money or more photos, that is illegal blackmail.

Feel like you have no options? Don’t pay, don’t delete the messages, and do block the user.

Save and share this to protect someone you love!

Drop a 💙 in the comments if you believe your digital safety matters.

If you are dealing with online extortion, please visit https://report.cybertip.org/ or contact your local authorities for immediate help.
