When life's twists and turns affect your finances, when you're stretching your budget as far as you can and the ends just won't meet, remember that you're not alone and help is available.

At God's Helping Hands of Mecosta County, we understand that anything from job loss to medical emergencies to rising prices - especially for those on fixed incomes - can impact your ability to afford groceries. No matter the circumstances, if you or someone you know is struggling to keep enough food in the house and a resident of Mecosta County please don't hesitate to reach out to us.

Simply come in and see us at 8760 50th Avenue, Remus on Tuesdays or Fridays between 9 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. One of our welcoming, caring registration volunteers can quickly get you signed up so you can begin receiving food right away. During that process they can also determine if you would benefit from any of our other programs and may be able to point you to other community resources for things we cannot provide.

God's Helping Hands of Mecosta County is a place where you are welcome, you are our brother or sister, you belong.

God's Helping Hands of Mecosta County is an equal opportunity provider.

Get your calendars out and mark this date down!

The 2nd Annual Feet For Heat fund raising walk is set for Wednesday, September 16 at 1pm. It is once again being held at the God's Help Hands building at 8760 50th Avenue in Remus.

This is our annual event to raise funds to help ensure families in Mecosta County have heat and adequate shelter over the winter months.

Thanks to the overwhelming outpouring of community support for last year's event we were able to provide over $11,000 in support to 25 families.

We hope you will join us and help build on that success this year. Our volunteers are already working hard to make this year's event even bigger and better event.

Watch this page for more information.

If you're looking for something fun to do this Friday, stop scrolling.

This is it!!

On Friday, families from across our community will come together for an afternoon of fun, connection, and celebration. Kids will be running from booth to booth, families will be discovering local resources, and neighbors will be catching up while enjoying everything our 4th Annual Summer Block Party has to offer.

The truth is, events like this don't happen without an incredible community coming together, and that's exactly what makes this day so special.

We've got amazing community partners, activities for families, giveaways, and plenty of opportunities to connect with organizations that are making a real difference right here in our community.

If you've been thinking about coming, consider this your sign.

Grab the kids. Invite a friend. Stop by for an hour or stay all afternoon.

Just don't be the person hearing about how much fun it was afterward.

We'll see you Friday!!

We are so thankful for these students from St Michael School Remus, MI who spent this past spring nurturing starter plants from seed for the God's Helping Hands Giving Garden. Their hard work, dedication and care bore fruit (or vegetables actually) and last Friday they planted their contribution with help from a couple of our volunteer gardeners. Their joy, excitement and enthusiasm really brightened our day!

Many thanks also to Paul Wernette for generously contributing some of his tomato and pepper starts and Natalie Pennington for her expert guidance in planning our garden.

Any finally, we are so, so grateful for this wonderful, caring and supportive community who stepped up with contributions of services, tools, supplies, soil and trees. This is truely a community effort and we thank you all.

Only thing left now is care for it through the summer and pray for an abundant havest!

The Giving Garden has been hopping this week!

First, big shout-out and thanks to Bob Beers from St Michael School for generously offering his time and assistance (not to mention a front loader 🚜) making lighter work of filling our raised bed containers with rich garden soil.

The beds are topped off and ready with final touches being applied over the next several days in anticipation of planting by the end of the month (fingers crossed for no more frost or freeze).

Thanks to everyone who has been a part of this effort so far. We are really excited to watch this garden come to life and produce fresh food for families in need of this summer!

More updates to come!
