On Wednesday, September 2nd and Thursday, September 3rd, Remsen Jr./Sr. High and Remsen Elementary school welcomed students and families in for the annual Back to School Night. Due to delayed construction work on the Elementary driveway and parking lot, the elementary event was postponed until Thursday the 3rd. During the event, students and families had the opportunity to visit with teachers, see classrooms, and enjoy hamburgers, hotdogs, and popcorn. In the Jr./Sr. High School, Ms. Dineen held several info sessions to help students and families navigate some of the Jr./Sr. high school milestones that they will encounter this year. In addition, several community organizations were in attendance throughout the event to provide information and resources for families. In the Elementary School, families received important classroom information and resources from teachers and had the opportunity to connect with representatives from the Remsen PTG, Girl Scouts, and the Remsen Good News Club. It was great to see all of our students and their families out together to kick off the new school year. Welcome back Remsen Rams!

The Remsen Central School District is proud to announce that junior Trent Jenny has been selected by the New York State School Music Association (NYSSMA) for participation in the 2026 Conference All-State Music Festival!

In an impressive demonstration of dual-talent, Trent has been selected for two elite ensembles: the Conference All-State Mixed Chorus (Bass) and the Conference All-State Symphonic Band (French horn). Trent has chosen to perform with the Symphonic Band for the upcoming festival, which takes place December 3–6.

A Historic Achievement
Selection for Conference All-State is one of the highest honors a high school musician in New York State can achieve. Trent was chosen out of thousands of applicants statewide based on his exceptional audition scores at last year's NYSSMA Solo Festival.

This accomplishment is particularly extraordinary in that Trent is only the 4th student from Remsen in the last 50 years to be accepted into Conference All-State.

Congratulations to Trent on this outstanding achievement!

On August 10th, 11th, and 12th the Hike Around a Lake club, consisting of 5th-7th graders, spent some quality time in nature. Monday they explored Moss Lake in Big Moose and had the opportunity to spend time climbing rocks and building dams. On Tuesday, we went to Nick's Lake in Old Forge where we hiked over 4 miles to end up at a beautiful beach. Wednesday, we traveled to Green Lakes State Park in Manlius to hike around two small meromictic lakes: Green Lake and Round Lake. All of the students did a great job hiking. Thank you to Mrs. Piaschyk, Mrs. Provost and Mrs. Carino for taking the students on these fun adventures.

The Remsen STEAM Camp was treated to amazing balloon walk experience from Dwight Cramer, from Airborne Adventures Ballooning in Munnsville, NY. Students learned about optimal weather conditions and mechanics of flying a hot air balloon. After the lesson, students walked into another world and went inside the actual seven story high balloon!

A balloon walk consists of a hot air balloon that is anchored at the top end and at the bottom end and inflated with cold air by the use of an inflation fan. Rather than standing the balloon with air that is heated by a burner, the balloon is kept inflated by the cold air. A large heavy mat is placed at the opening where students were able to take their shoes off and enter the balloon. Inside they were also treated to large inflatable balls to be able to play and enjoy the atmosphere.
