The Sheriff is an elected official and the chief law enforcement officer of the county. An important duty is to provide law enforcement services to the unincorporated areas of the county; however, he maintains law enforcement jurisdiction in all c

ities and townships within the county. The Sheriff is responsible for the protection of life and property. Enforcement includes criminal investigations, security of courtrooms, service of civil processes of the courts and responsible for the operation and maintenance of the county jail. Each of these services must be provided seven days a week, 24 hours a day. The Rockingham County Sheriff’s Office consists of more than one hundred fifty personnel, divided between the Operations Bureau and the Detention Bureau. The Rockingham County Sheriff’s Office is located in the Law Enforcement Center on NC Highway 65 in Wentworth, NC. The Administrative/Operations Bureau is responsible for the law enforcement functions of the Department and the School Resource Officers Program. Sworn officers with the Sheriff’s Office have jurisdiction anywhere within the County. The Field Operations Unit provides 24-hour patrol protection to citizens of the County. The Criminal Investigation Section handles all follow-ups on crimes and the prosecution of suspects through the court system. Deputies in the Legal Process Division are charged with the service of both criminal and civil process throughout the County.

The Rockingham County Sheriff's Office is investigating a break in that occurred at Just Whips car dealership located at 3930 US 220 Madison, NC. The break in occurred on December 31, 2025, at around 9:00PM. Surveillance video shows the subject (pictured below) wearing blue jeans, black hoodie with white in color print on the front, black and white Nike shoes, and a mask. The surveillance video also shows the subject breaking into the business and then breaking into two vehicles. The subject then attempts to leave with the vehicle but was unable to do so.

On January 1,2026, the Rockingham County Sheriff’s Office received a report regarding the removal of political signs belonging to a candidate running for public office from the resident on Business 29 in Reidsville, NC. The first sign had been removed from this location where the candidate had placed it, a second sign was placed in the same location. The individual that removed the second sign placed in this area was subsequently caught on camera and identified.

During the investigation, it was determined that the sign in question had been improperly placed on property located along Business 29. The candidate had placed the sign after receiving permission from an individual he believed to be the property owner on Business 29 Reidsville NC. Upon clarification of the property ownership and placement requirements, the issue was addressed.

The matter was handled cordially by all parties involved, and no further action is necessary. This matter is now considered closed.

The Rockingham County Sheriff’s Office would like to remind the public that the removal or defacing of any properly placed political sign is a Class 3 misdemeanor under North Carolina law. Individuals with questions regarding political sign placement or other campaign-related matters are encouraged to contact their local Board of Elections or refer to North Carolina General Statute § 136-32.

Recently, a candidate running for a local elected office reported the theft of two campaign signs. The signs, supporting Brian Harbour for Sheriff, were reported stolen from the following locations: one from U.S. Highway 29 near Pulliam’s Grocery on December 31, 2025, and another from the area of Highway 700 and Peanut Road in Ruffin, North Carolina, on or around December 23, 2025.

The Rockingham County Sheriff’s Office reminds all citizens that during election season—regardless of political affiliation or support for any candidate—the theft or defacement of campaign signs is a criminal offense. All reported incidents will be thoroughly investigated, and individuals found responsible will be charged accordingly.

The Rockingham County Sheriff’s Office is requesting the public's assistance in an investigation of 2 dirt bikes reported stolen. On 12/15/2025 the Rockingham County Sheriff’s Office received a report of the larceny of a two 1996 Suzuki enduro style motorcycles stolen from the driveway at 463 Mizpah Church Rd. Reidsville, NC. One of the motorcycles is blue in color with a white fuel tank, and the other is all white with blue accents (pictured below). One of the dirt bikes has a 350cc engine and the other has a 650cc engine. Both of the dirt bikes are entered into the National Crime Information Center NCIC as stolen. The Rockingham County Sheriff’s Office is requesting the public's assistance in an investigation of a stolen go cart. On 12/02/2025 the Rockingham County Sheriff’s Office received a report of the larceny of a Coleman brand 2-seater children’s go cart from 120 Hills Loop Reidsville NC in the Williamsburg area. The go cart is black in color with a roll cage and 50cc motor (pictured below). The go cart was not entered into NCIC as there was no available vin at the time of the report. Mr. Willard was last seen a year ago on December 24th, 2024, walking on foot in the area of Angel Road in Madison, NC. Mr. Willard has not been seen since, and a Missing Person report was filed on January 7th, 2025. ANNIVERSARY REBROADCAST of Unsolved 2016 Homicide - Calvin Jerome "C.J." Simpson II
Date: Tuesday, December 23, 2025
[Wentworth, N.C.]— At 3:40 a.m. on Christmas Eve 2016, Calvin Jerome “C.J.” Simpson II was shot to death in the doorway of his home at 159 Northfork Drive in Reidsville, N.C., after answering a knock at the door. The shooter then fled the area. The investigation remains open.

UPDATE Vehicle has been located
On 12/13/2025 the Rockingham County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a stolen vehicle from 150 Benaja Rd in Reidsville NC. The vehicle pictured below is a 2005 Acura TSX with North Carolina registration of VHP-2997. The vehicle is entered NCIC as stolen. Join Sheriff Sam Page and the staff of the Rockingham County Sheriff’s Office as we proudly welcome our newest deputies. Deputy Casey Parker, Deputy Seth Terrell, Deputy Daniel Webb, and Deputy Avery Vaughn have successfully completed their Basic Law Enforcement Training and will immediately begin their assignments as Patrol Deputies. We are proud to have these men join our team and look forward to watching them grow and advance in their law enforcement careers.

On December 10, 2025, the Rockingham County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to 1018 Person St Eden, NC, in regard to a house fire. The responding deputy was advised by neighbors they believed an elderly person was still inside. The deputy made every attempt to enter the residence, but the fire had overtaken the residence, and he was not able to do so. Fire crews from Eden City Fire Dept., Draper Fire Dept., Leakesville Fire Dept., and Shiloh Fire Dept. arrived on scene and extinguished the fire. Shortly thereafter a deceased individual was located inside the residence. The Rockingham County Fire Marshal’s Office requested the Arson Task Force to respond and investigate the fire scene. The fire is believed to be accidental, and the cause is still under investigation. The name of the victim is not being disclosed at this time pending family notification and identification.
