From the track to serving her community. 🇺🇸🏃‍♀️

Congratulations to Nialaonis Smith on graduating from New Bedford High School and committing to UMass Amherst for Track & Field! She recently enlisted in the Massachusetts Army National Guard as a 31B Military Police Soldier.

"The thing I'm mostly looking forward to in the National Guard is opening the horizon and seeing what I can do with it—whether that's becoming an officer or serving as a 31B—and transferring those experiences to my civilian life."

As she pursues her athletic and academic goals, Nialaonis is building a future defined by leadership, service, and opportunity. Best of luck at UMass and throughout your National Guard journey!
