Around 11 PM Sunday (5/24/26) we were dispatched to a loud explosion in the Reelsville area. Several members heard it and several calls were placed to 911 reporting it. Upon arriving at the fire station more explosions were heard. After a diligent search of the area, a large gathering was found at a private residence on US 40 east of Reelsville where it was discovered Tannerite was being set off. The matter was turned over to law enforcement who assisted in finding the cause of the explosions.

Yesterday, during our breakfast our Assistant Fire Chief John McPherson noticed a little boy standing in front of the fire trucks counting them with his mom and grandmother. Chief McPherson asked the little boy if he wanted to see the fire trucks and of course the answer was yes! By the time they were done, this little boy, whose name is Kolson (2 1/2), was leading John around the trucks by the hand so that he could get into them. This little boy reminds us of when we were kids. Most of us were just fascinated with the big trucks, the sirens, and the lights, and we dreamed of one day climbing inside one and racing to emergencies to save the day. We are thankful for the opportunity we have to serve our community daily in times of need and maybe one day, Coleston will get to do the same things!
