Be in the know. Sign up for your community’s warning system. Disasters can happen suddenly, so it’s important to have multiple ways to get alerts. The Emergency Alert System and National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration Weather Radio also provide emergency alerts.

This year’s theme highlights preparedness as a civic responsibility and patriotic duty. It also celebrates the self-reliant, resourceful spirit of the American people. In the face of disasters like tornadoes, wildfires and hurricanes, Americans can take simple, practical steps to keep themselves and their families safe. By proactively preparing, Americans make the nation stronger and more resilient.

SMOKE DETECTOR SAFETY SURVEY

Are you 60 years of age or older?

Do you live in the Reedsville, Arthurdale, Gladesville, Kanes Creek, or Independence area?

🏠 Do you have a smoke detector that is more than 5 years old?
🏠 Or do you have no smoke detectors in your home?

If so, we want to hear from you!

The Reedsville Volunteer Fire Department is conducting a community survey to determine how many smoke detectors are needed in our area.

Our goal is simple: help keep our senior community members safe.

If you qualify, we will:

🚨 Provide smoke detectors
🏠 Bring them directly to you
🔧 Help properly install them, if needed
❤️ Help make sure your home has the protection you deserve
