Troop 74 would like to thank the Reed City Fire Department for cleaning out the holes for the flags in downtown Reed City yesterday.

We've tried all manner of drill bits, screw drivers, shop vacs, and everything else you can think of - by far the best method we've found is a high pressure hose stream. Thank You, Jacob Hammond and Jim Decker for giving up a couple hours of your holiday weekend to get this done!

As some may know, today March 18th is the state wide tornado drill at 1pm. Where the tornado siren located the Fire Department would be tested.

We will not be activating our siren today as neighboring counties to the north of us are under a State of Emergency due to recent weather.

However, our monthly tests will resume next month as normally scheduled.

πŸš’ In 2025, the Reed City Fire Department responded to 585 calls for service. These calls ranged from medical emergencies, car accidents, grass/wild land fires, structure fires, and storm related emergencies.

Interesting facts:
- March was the busiest month (61 calls for service)
- Fridays were the busiest days.
- Busiest time of day was between 1pm-4pm.

All of this would not have been possible without our dedicated personnel. We want to thank our personnel, and the community, for the wonderful support. We want to wish everyone a happy and successful 2026!
