This is the third radar speed sign that Cargill has donated to our department in the last 3 years. This sign will be installed at the south city limits and will monitor north-bound Chestnut Street traffic.

Monday 4/27…

An officer investigated a complaint of harassment, where a statement was written and interviews were completed. Both parties were advised not to contact each other, or harassment charges would be sought for future events.

Tuesday 4/28…

An officer found an individual acting suspicious at a local storage unit. The male was not cooperative in providing identification. Through investigation, the subject was identified, and a valid warrant was located, but the downstate agency was not able to pick-up.

A person was seen looking into windows at a local business after hours. Upon contact, the 68 year-old male was arrested for active warrants for obstructing justice & friend of the court. He was transported to OC jail without incident.

An officer was called for a noise ordinance violation. Upon arrival, there was no loud music heard.

An officer was dispatched regarding a VIN inspection. The vehicle was verified as not stolen, but only a scrap title application was in the complainant’s possession. The complainant was advised to call back once they acquired the correct paperwork.

An officer was dispatched for a property damage accident at a local business.

An officer responded to a complaint of a vehicle being repaired in a parking lot. The vehicle was not in a dangerous position and had not been dismantled for 72 or more hours, which would be a violation of local ordinance.

Wednesday 4/29…

An officer contacted a subject regarding a valid order for a mental evaluation. The subject was transported to the hospital, per said order, and was transferred to hospital staff.

An officer was dispatched to RCH for an unruly patient. Upon arrival, the individual was restrained and was wearing protective gear, as the subject was intentionally spitting on hospital staff. This report has been submitted to the prosecutor’s office for charges.

An officer investigated a complaint of an individual with a possible handgun inside a public facility. Investigation revealed the item was a keychain that measured 1.9”.

An officer responded to a barking dog complaint. Upon arrival, no violation or dog was found in the area, and no one answered the door at the alleged location.

An officer was called regarding a check well-being complaint. Through investigation, the individual was determined they were not a threat to themselves or others, and protective custody was not warranted.

While on routine patrol, an officer located an illegal fire. Through this contact, the homeowner was advised of the local ordinance regarding fires in town, and was asked to extinguish said fire.

An officer was dispatched regarding a well-being check on a subject. Upon arrival, no one would answer the door.

An officer was dispatched to a possible domestic assault complaint. Upon arrival, the officer did not hear or see any disturbances via the homes open windows. Additionally, the officer interviewed all parties present, and determined that nothing illegal occurred.

Thursday 4/30…

An officer was dispatched to a local business for a Michigan ID that was located. Numerous, unsuccessful attempts to contact the owner were made. This case is pending contact for the ID to be returned.

Friday 5/1…

An individual was found with a fire at the Depot. The ordinance was explained and the subject left. RC Fire extinguished the fire.

An officer gathered statements and evidence on a 2-vehicle property damage accident with no injuries. A citation was issued and a report written.

An officer was dispatched regarding a check well-being complaint. This investigation revealed the subject was fine.

Saturday 5/2…

An officer was dispatched regarding an unknown complaint. Upon arrival, the complainant refused to provide any information or cooperate.

Sunday 5/3…

An officer was contacted by an agency about a possible CSAM complaint that occurred near the end of 2025. Interviews and investigation revealed all evidence/information/accounts had been deleted some time ago. This investigation is currently ongoing.

An officer was dispatched regarding a well-being check. Contact with the individual resulted in a request to be transported to RCH for assistance. The person was transported without incident.

Monday 4/20…

Officers were dispatched regarding a check well-being. On arrival the individual did not show signs of distress or a medical event.

An officer was dispatched to a possible complaint of criminal sexual conduct. The matter is under investigation.

Tuesday 4/21…

Officers performed security checks, traffic policing, interviews, and follow-up tasks on current active cases.

Wednesday 4/22…

An officer located an open-door during security checks. The business was checked, cleared and secured properly.

An officer transported a 29yr old female from Mason County Jail to Osceola County Jail for an active warrant on Failure to Appear in court.

While on follow-up for another report, a 33year-old male was arrested on an active warrant from Mecosta County for Failure to Appear in court. The male was turned over to Mecosta County deputies.

An officer stopped a vehicle for a defective muffler. The driver was found to be operating without a valid driver’s license, no insurance on the vehicle, and the vehicle was unregistered. The 24yr old female driver was released with appearance citations.

Officers performed security checks, traffic policing, interviews, and follow-up tasks on current active cases.

Friday 4/24…

An officer investigated a report of suspected damage to a front door.

An officer assisted an Osceola County deputy on a child custody matter between several tense individuals.

An officer issued a verbal warning for a dog running loose.

An officer investigated a dispute between family members. This is a periodic ongoing matter and was determined to be verbal arguing only.

An officer took a complaint of a barking dog.

An officer took a complaint of a found dog. The owner was located and picked up the dog.

Sunday 4/26…

An officer was dispatched to a possible underground water leak. The area is normally wet this time of year. DPW was contacted to evaluate the situation and act if needed.

Monday 4/13…

An officer took a report of theft from a storage unit. The lock had been cut off, and items taken. Evidence and a statement were given. Camera footage is pending.

An officer took a complaint of social media harassment. All individuals involved were advised to cease contact with each other, and that if it continues the prosecutor would be advised. All parties agreed to stop.

Tuesday 4/14…

An officer was advised of a CSC incident that occurred outside of the city limits. The matter was turned over to the sheriff department due to jurisdiction.

An officer was called for an unattended 4yr old child. While the officer was speaking with the child, dispatch received a call of a child who was missing. The child was taken home and was determined to have slipped out after mom had her arms full of laundry while entering the apartment and did not lock the door right way. No signs of injury or neglect were found at this time.

An officer responded to a report of swimmers in the river on public property. All were located and safe. They were advised of this being very unsafe due to flooding and swift moving water, as well as the fact that this location is clearly posted “No Trespassing”. The swimmers left without incident.

An officer assisted OCSD with an alarm at a local business. The building was cleared and was secured at this time. The alarm was unfounded, and the building was secured again.

Wednesday 4/15…

An officer responded to a death that was discovered by family members. EMS & the medical examiner assisted with this investigation. No foul play was found during investigation, and this is determined to be of natural causes.

An officer was called to respond to a civil dispute over a vehicle and non-payment. A 38yr old female involved was arrested without incident for an active warrant for co***ne possession out of a neighboring county. The vehicle was towed away by the owner.

An officer was dispatched to a local park for a possible domestic assault. The individuals matching the descriptions were not located.

Friday 4/17…

An officer was dispatched for a possible domestic. On arrival, both individuals were interviewed and there had been no assault, only an upset vehicle owner pounding on a vehicle that would not run after learning the cost of a replacement part. The person had calmed considerably, and there were no signs of any assault at this time.

An officer was dispatched for a dog at large violation. The dog was apprehended and taken to Animal Control. The owner was located, advised of the ordinance criteria, and issued a verbal warning.

An officer was dispatched for an assault seen inside a passing vehicle. The vehicle was located and the occupants denied an assault had occurred. With further investigation the officer found no sign an assault had taken place.

Officers were dispatched to a local business for a suspicious situation. Two teens were seen entering a closed business well after hours. No subjects matching the description could be located. The owner did not believe anything had been disturbed. The doors were secured to prevent future incidents.

Saturday 4/18…

An officer was dispatched for a well-being check. The person was located at another address and was interviewed. A citation was issued for MIP of alcohol by consumption. A parent was advised and gave permission for the minor to remain with the adult at the residence until they arrived. This case has been submitted to CPS and the prosecutor. Charges have also been requested on the man suspected of providing the alcohol to the minor.

Sunday 4/19…

An officer was called to a complaint of intentional damage to a vehicle. Upon investigation it was determined that the damage was from wear and tear on the vehicle. No foul play was found, and the owner agreed with this result.

An officer was dispatched for 2 juveniles threatening a man with a pistol outside of a local business. Multiple patrols were done seeking the alleged offenders. Statements and multiple tips were received. The individuals were identified and located. One of the teens admitted to pointing a CO2 pellet pistol at the man. The CO2 pistol was seized and the matter has been turned over to the prosecutor and probate court.

Officers conducted follow-up on current investigations, performed security checks to local businesses and conducted proactive patrols.

Tuesday 4/7…

An officer was dispatched regarding an assault complaint. Statements were taken and a report was written. This case is open pending further investigation.

Wednesday 4/8…

An officer identified an individual who lost a wallet at a public park. The lost property was returned.

An officer was dispatched to a home for a possible unsafe situation. Upon arrival, all individuals were interviewed, and through investigation, it appears to be a disagreement only. All parties involved agreed to separate for the night and work out the situation the next day.

Thursday 4/9…

An officer was dispatched regarding a harassment call. Based on interviews and evidence provided, there is no harassment at this time. This turned out to be a parking disagreement, and both parties were advised to contact the building manager for future complaints.

An officer was called to RCAPS bus garage as 2 students could not be dropped off at home due to no one being there to meet the bus. Both parents were called and came in to get their children.

Friday 4/10…

An officer was called for a used syringe found in a public place. Upon arrival an individual claimed it was theirs from diabetic meds. A content test has been done on the syringe, and this case is open at this time.

Saturday 4/11…

An officer found a door unlocked at a local business during security checks. No one was inside and nothing appeared disturbed. The owner was advised of the situation, and the property was secured properly.

Officers made multiple traffic stops for various violations, and followed-up on open cases.

An officer assisted a disabled motorist with traffic control until a wrecker arrived and removed the vehicle.

An officer investigated a complaint of a suspicious vehicle at a local business. The individual was identified and advised of the local ordinances.

Sunday 4/12…

An officer was dispatched to assist OCSD on a 2-vehicle personal injury accident. Traffic control for the incident was performed and stand-by at RCH with one of the injured persons was also completed.

An officer investigated a report of a missing person who did not return after working out of town. While conducting this investigation, the suspected missing person contacted the complainant, and advised they decided to stay a bit longer and were fine.

An officer responded to and unlawful entry complaint. Through investigations, this matter was determined to be a civil dispute between a contractor and sub-contractor.

An officer stopped a UTV for operating on a state highway, which is a prohibited area. A citation was issued.

An officer arrested a 22yr old male on an outstanding warrant for threats from a case in 2021.

An officer located and cited individuals for traffic violations that occurred on the Rails to Trails.

Thursday 4/2…

An officer was dispatched to a loud music complaint. The individual was located and the officer requested the music be turned down. They complied, and there were no further complaints for that location.

Friday 4/3…

An officer investigated a complaint of suspected debit card fraud. A statement and evidence was given. Multiple requests were made regarding the items purchased, camera footage, etc. This case is currently open, pending further investigation.

Saturday 4/4…

An officer was dispatched regarding a domestic disturbance. At the conclusion of this investigation, the individuals were separated, and a report has been forwarded to the prosecutor’s office and Child Protective Services.

An officer located an unoccupied vehicle parked at a local storage facility. The owner’s information was obtained and contact is being attempted.

An officer investigated a complaint of possible illegal sales. This case is open pending further investigation.

Monday 3/23…

Officers were dispatched to a domestic assault. Upon arrival one of the individuals had left the location before the officer arrived. Statements were taken and OCSD located the other person and brought them back to the home. A 36year-old female was arrested for domestic abuse and interfering with a 911 call. The female was transported to OC jail without further incident.

An officer was dispatched to assist Mecosta County Sheriff Department in contacting a local business owner. The individual was located and advised to contact MCSD regarding follow-up on a complaint.

Tuesday 3/24…

An officer was dispatched for a civil dispute. During this complaint, all parties were advised that all vehicles must be operable, inside of a structure, or they would be in violation of city ordinance. All individuals agreed to talk civilly to resolve this issue.

An officer was dispatched to an area check for a male yelling and carrying a bar around in a disorderly fashion. Upon arrival and patrol of the area, no individual matching this description could be located.

Wednesday 3/25…

An officer was called to a complaint of graffiti on a local business. The matter is under investigation

An officer took a complaint of a possible violation of a no contact order. The individuals were advised to contact Mecosta deputies based on the jurisdiction where it occurred.

Thursday 3/26…

An officer received a community mental health order for a local individual. The person was contacted and escorted willingly to RCH where they checked themselves in without incident.

An officer was called for a well-being check. Upon arrival no one was at the residence. A call was made and a voicemail was left for them to contact the original caller.

Friday 3/27…

An officer was called to assist OCSD on a well-being check. Upon arrival the individual was no longer in the area and unable to be located.

Sunday 3/29…

Officers patrolled the city, performed security checks to businesses, issued citations for ordinances and traffic violations, and followed-up on open cases.

Monday 3/16…

Officers took a call on a dog bite. On arrival, the dog had ripped the person’s pants but did not break any skin. The owner of the dog was located and issued a citation for this offence. Additionally, the owner was made fully aware of possible civil and criminal liabilities that accompany dog ownership. They were also advised that if it happened again, the dog would be declared vicious and would be seized. The owner stated that they understood.

An officer was called to a barking dog violation. On arrival there was no dog around the immediate area, and no recent activity of the dog in the freshly fallen snow.

An officer was called for a loud music complaint. On arrival, the apartment that was playing loud music was located and the resident was advised to turn it down. The resident turned the music off.

Tuesday 3/17…

An officer was called for a barking dog violation. On arrival a dog was located tied to a porch and sitting quietly. The owner answered the door and was advised of the complaint, so they took the dog inside.

An officer took a report of locks being cut off at a local storage facility. Video evidence is pending for the investigation. The matter is under investigation.

Wednesday 3/18…

An officer took a complaint of 2 scam calls regarding a traffic ticket and an accident. The caller ID was not associated to the appropriate entities, but one was from out of country and the other was out of state. The officer attempted to make contact with the subjects at the provided numbers, but they failed to answer. A report is on file.

Thursday 3/19…

Officers were dispatched for a domestic assault. Interviews revealed an assault did take place and a 36-year-old male was arrested for the assault as well as a probation violation. The subject was transported to OC jail without incident.

An officer was contacted by another agency regarding a welfare check due to threats being made. The individual was located and was fine.

An officer was called for a 2-vehicle property damage accident. One vehicle backed in front of the other, which caused the collision. Information was exchanged between the parties, and a report is on file.

An officer took a complaint of a larceny from a storage unit. A detailed statement was given regarding the items that were stolen. This matter is under investigation.

An officer was called for items found on a local bench. The items were retrieved by RCPD, documented, and placed in a secure location. Camera footage of the person leaving the items is pending. The items found were not on the list regarding previous complaints of theft.

Friday 3/20…

An officer investigated a report of internet fraud where the person believed they were talking to celebrities. Evidence was documented and the complainant’s phone passwords were changed, along with the offenders being blocked and deleted. Unfortunately, the scammer was located outside of the country.

Please be vigilant and aware of scams!

Saturday 3/21…

An officer was called for disorderly/loud persons at an apartment parking lot. Upon arrival the individuals were gone and not located in the area.

Officers were dispatched to a local business regarding a theft complaint. Video evidence and statements were documented. The Lake County Sheriff Department assisted and had the individual contact the investigating officer. The individual returned the stolen item to RCPD. Additionally, a trespass notice and a citation was served on the suspect. The case has been sent to the prosecutor for review.

Sunday 3/22…

An officer responded to a 911 call at a local business. Upon arrival the person complained of chest pains, EMS arrived and transported the individual to RCH for evaluation.

During patrol, an individual with an active warrant was located. The 37year-old female was arrested for Failing to Appear in Court, and was transported to OCJ without incident.
