The Kirkland Grange #864 is hosting a community event from 11 - 2 at the Redwood Fire Hall. Organizations are showcasing volunteer opportunities or clubs to join. We are here with a recruitment table. The Grange is also offering a chicken bbq that they have made. Stop by and visit the 20 different tables.

Every year before Memorial Day we make it a point to visit our past members and exchange their flags, pay a little respect, and freshen their memory.

The membership had a great turnout, with the help of their family members and a few friends of the department, we were able to make quick work of the flag exchange tonight.

If you have a loved one who needs a flag replaced or installed please reach out to us, we are currently updating records and mapping to ensure we don’t miss anyone. We know there’s a chance we may have. We have plenty on hand, and could use the help tracing our roots.

A reminder that the annual Burn Ban from NYS is in effect until May 14th. Please note that violations start at $500 in fines!!

For those of us who have friends and family within the gates here, this is infuriating.

Truly disgusting.

Once a year we make it a point to visit, tidy up and replace those flags and grave markers, this is our family. Our brothers, sisters and loved ones. This is how we honor their past and remember their story. This is a place of somber remembrance, tranquility and peace.

The grave markers are expensive, the flags a visual reminder that they are never forgotten. The money is least of our concerns, honestly it’s the disrespect that bothers us more than anything.

This year’s roll call will be difficult, I haven’t seen the damage personally so I’m uncertain if all the grave markings are accounted for or not, but if you have a loved one here and are familiar with their plot, and need assistance with replacing any visual markers or anything please reach out to us.
