City of Redwood Falls The City of Redwood Falls, Minnesota is nestled along the fertile and picturesque Minnesota River Valley in northern Redwood County.

It is approximately 110 miles west of the Twin Cities metropolitan area . Although surrounded by prairie lands of wonderful fertility, Redwood Falls is possessed of much rugged scenic beauty, the Redwood River running through wooded cliffs and unique geologic formations. As such, the City has become known throughout Minnesota as “The Scenic City.” With a population of 5,254, it is the county seat of Redwood County and serves as a sub-regional economic hub for a market area of approximately 17,000 residents of Redwood and Renville counties.

In observance of Labor Day, City Hall will be closed on Monday, September 7th. Standard business hours will resume on Tuesday.

Also, garbage and recycling pickup will be delayed one day due to the holiday.

Garbage and recycling normally scheduled for Tuesday will be removed on Wednesday, September 9th.
Garbage and recycling normally scheduled for Thursday will be removed on Friday, September 11th.

The last summer Clean-Up Day is Friday, August 28, 2026 from 3:00-7:00 p.m. Sweetman Sanitation is offering this garbage drop-off day in Redwood Falls.

Items must be brought to the drop-off location at 1200 S. Mill Street. Check out the included flyer for more information on items accepted and pricing. Payment will be taken at the drop-off location. Big cleaning plans? A dumpster bag may be perfect for your project. Fill the bag at home, and Sweetman Sanitation will pick it up on the pre-scheduled pick-up date. Redwood Falls Public Works department will be chip sealing streets and bituminous alleys from Gould Street west to Minnesota Street, and from trunk Highway 19/71 south to Wyoming Street. Also includes the Third Street municipal lot, M&L parking lot, and streets around the Redwood Valley Elementary School.

Sweeping and Chip Sealing will start on Tuesday, August 25, 2026.

This process is weather-dependent, and rain events will affect scheduling.
