Redwood City Together advances the success of youth and families in Redwood City and North Fair Oaks through community collaboration.

Our vision is that all people living in Redwood City and North Fair Oaks are healthy, safe, and successful. We bring our community residents together with local organizations and public agencies to develop and implement a wide range of projects that are focused on building on strengths and addressing needs in our community. Our goals are to reduce the impact of poverty, improve the academic success of students, increase community engagement, and enhance safety. Redwood City Together serves an ethnically diverse population of children, youth, and families from some of the most impoverished and under-resourced neighborhoods in San Mateo County where poverty, violence, and a lack of social services often present barriers to the safety, health, and success of community residents. Redwood City Together brings together key public and private organizations in our community in ongoing efforts to ensure the health and success of all children, youth and families served by the Redwood City School District. While no single organization can address complex community issues, we believe that, together, we can affect the positive change needed in Redwood City and North Fair Oaks.

Nothing beats learning about nature in nature! 🌲⛰️

Yesterday, our Promotores spent an incredible day exploring Huddart Park with San Mateo County Parks and Friends of Huddart&Wunderlich . From navigating the trails to understanding the local ecosystem, hands-on experience is the best way for our youth to share the beauty of our parks with others.

Trips like this directly empower our team to promote the SMC Mariposa Pass a vital program supported by San Mateo Co Parks Foundation that ensures our most vulnerable community members have free, equitable access to the outdoors.

We ended the day the best way we know how: good views, great conversation, and a delicious lunch! 🧺❤️

This summer, 12 community-based organizations across Redwood City and North Fair Oaks opened their doors to create meaningful job opportunities for local youth. But these numbers only tell part of the story. Behind every placement was a community Partner willing to invest in a young person, provide mentorship, build their skills, and help them see themselves as leaders in their community. From the application process in April to youth orientation in June and job placements throughout the summer, our partners played a critical role in making these opportunities possible. We are incredibly grateful to the organizations that made space for our youth and trusted them to contribute to the important work happening in our communities.
To our 12 community-based partners: Thank you for saying “yes” to youth in our community. Your investment goes beyond a summer job, you are helping young people build confidence, develop professional skills, explore careers in public service, and see the impact they can make in their own communities.
Thank you for Senator Josh Beck, District 4 Supervisor Lisa Guathier, and Redwood City Council for recognizing the youth this past month!

We could not be prouder of our Promotores for their incredible dedication to youth development as they were honored last night by the Redwood City City Council. As a collective impact partner, this team continuously creates meaningful youth workforce opportunities both within our organization and through strong multi-sector partnerships across the community.
International Youth Day reminds us that while young people live in diverse national and local realities, their fundamental goals dignity, decent work, quality education, and a sustainable future are universal. First proposed at the 1991 World Youth Forum and officially established by the UN General Assembly in 1999 (with the first observance on August 12, 2000), this global day highlights the importance of supporting all youth, including those in Least Developed Countries (LDCs), Landlocked Developing Countries (LLDCs), and Small Island Developing States (SIDS).
Thank you to our Promotores, our leadership, our partners and community for translating these global ideals into local impact right here in Redwood City and North Fair Oaks! 🌟

This Monday, our Redwood City Together Promotores dove into an Outreach Basics Workshop to sharpen their community engagement skills. To prepare for upcoming local food distributions and community events, our youth stepped up to practice public speaking and peer-to-peer engagement in a supportive space.
We can’t wait to see them put these skills into action and connect with our community!💙

Our Promotores were present at various community events this past weekend. They supported in two monthly events- Fair Oaks Community Center’s food distribution and El Mercadito hosted by ChaseLove and El Concilio, and lastly at the San Mateo County Parks’Coyote Point SummerFest. Throughout these 3 events, they reached over 300+ individuals that now are more knowledgeable about social services available in the North Fair Oaks and Redwood City area.

This past weekend, our Promotores visited San Pedro Valley Park and participated in various activities that helped increase their knowledge about the park. From participating in a scavenger hunt, joining in on a 30 minute hike to exploring the different trees and its plaques, the Promotores left inspired and ready to come back and check out the rest of treasures of San Pedro Valley Park. Thank you to Cristina from the San Mateo County Parks Foundation for helping make this possible! And for Raquel, a volunteer at the park for taking time on a Saturday morning to be in community with our Promotores. 😊

“Last night, we celebrated an incredible summer of youth workforce development rooted in servant leadership. Twelve of our partner nonprofit organizations stepped up to hire 37 young people across Redwood City and North Fair Oaks. These youth were honored by Senator Josh Becker, Supervisor Lisa Gauthier, and Superintendent of Schools Marco Chavez. As a United for Youth program with the San Mateo County Office of Education, we believe deeply in the power of giving young people real workforce opportunities in the social sector. Supervisor Lisa Gauthier closed her remarks with a message that stayed with everyone in the room: “You are who this community has been waiting for!” We look forward to continuing to provide economic mobility programs for our youth in the community!
