The San Mateo County Le***an, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Q***r, Intersex, Asexual, plus (LGBTQIA+) Commission works to improve the quality of life for LGBTQ County residents. The LGBTQIA+ Commission is a non-partisan advisory body to the San Mateo County Board of Supervisors that works to improve the quality of life for its LGBTQIA+ residents by developing policy recommendations to improve outcomes for underserved and at-risk segments of the LGBTQIA+ population, promoting transgender inclusion, reducing harassment and bullying of LGBTQIA+ youth, bringing greater recognition and visibility to the LGBTQIA+ community through public events, and taking positions on policies, programs, procedures and legislation affecting LGBTQIA+ individuals.
