San Mateo County Firefighters, IAFF L2400

San Mateo County Firefighters, IAFF L2400 San Mateo County Firefighters Local 2400 was founded in 1975 as a group of Firefighter Associations within San Mateo County.

San Mateo County Firefighters is a group of eleven Firefighter Associations. Some of our Associations have been responding to the need of the community for nearly two hundred years. The men and women of our organization take great pride in the service we provide to our neighbors but have realized we needed a new way to communicate with the people we serve. As time and culture changes so will we; w

e feel social media is part of that change. Our hope to both inform and be informed of ongoing community needs, significant events affecting us all, and to broaden our mutual interaction. San Mateo County Firefighters are now using Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and other social media with the desire to transform our interaction with the community. A more direct and responsive relationship is our goal. Part of our interaction is to make certain we are meeting your expectations; secondly, we desire to showcase how the fire service has radically changed over the last twenty years. The job of being a simple firefighter has been replaced by a highly complex occupation that requires constant and extensive training to handle the “all risk” environment in which we operate. Through this dialogue we are hoping for increased service to you and a deeper sense of how and why we operate the way we do.
