NEW PUBLIC SAFETY DASHBOARD

Redwood City has launched a new Public Safety Dashboard.

Per Fire Chief Carter:

“Our Fire Department responds to far more than fires. This dashboard provides greater transparency into the full scope of services we deliver, from emergency medical response and rescues to hazardous conditions, public service calls, and fire incidents. By making this information easily accessible, we can help keep our residents better informed about the hazards and risks within their community, strengthen public awareness, and support a more resilient Redwood City. It also highlights the critical work our fire personnel perform every day to protect the communities we serve.”

This dashboards allows a quick and simple visualization of not only the number of calls we respond to, but also the type and areas they are occurring.

E20 DUCKLING RESCUE

Yesterday E20 and some good samaritans of Redwood Shores were able to rescue a Duck and her 9 Ducklings

When watching a duck and her ducklings crossing the road, neighbors saw multiple ducklings fall through a storm grate and get stuck inside.

While they stepped in to help, others alerted E20 for assistance.

Engine 20 arrived on scene and was able to remove the grate. However, when doing so, Mama duck decided to join her ducklings inside the storm grate. Working together, E20 and bystanders were able to rescue all the ducklings and the mother duck, reuniting them in a safer area.

Thank you again to the good samaritans who stepped in to assist and alert E20 to the problem.

We always enjoy helping our community in any way we can.

Not all training days look the same

Recently we added Simulation Labs to our training cache.

This allows us to have another avenue for crews to train as individuals or multiple companies simultaneously.

Using simulations, our companies are able to get more  sets and reps on buildings in their area that we are not always able to do hands-on training.

This training can help improve efficiency and speed on real incidents.

We are always looking for ways to improve and increase of service to the community, this is just one example of how we do that.
