As we continue to highlight the numerous successes and accomplishments that BCHD has achieved on behalf of the residents of the Beach Cities, we would like to highlight allcove Beach Cities.

This innovative, integrated youth mental health center is a safe place for youth that reduces stigma, embraces mental wellness and increases community connection.

On November 18, allcove celebrated their first anniversary with live music, an art show, jewelry making and other interactive activities! In its first year of operations, allcove Beach Cities has generated $9.3 million in grants. This includes a $6.3 million grant from the California Department of Healthcare Services’ Behavioral Continuum Infrastructure program for the development of allcove’s permanent home on BCHD’s campus.

Since opening in November 2022, allcove has had more than 4,100 visits by young people and nearly 500 young people have enrolled in a service stream. We've conducted more than 660 tours, presentations and events locally.

Congratulations to allcove Beach Cities for a fantastic first year!

The League of California Cities recognizes outstanding achievements by the state's 482 communities.

In 2022, the League honored Redondo Beach's Enhanced Response to Homelessness Program with the Helen Putnam Award for Excellence in Housing Programs and Innovations.

Assemblyman Al Muratsuchi secured $500,000 in state funds to support this successful endeavor.

City Attorney Mike Webb and Quality of Life Prosecutor Joy Ford helped launch Los Angeles County's ground‐breaking Outdoor Homeless Court which strives to house, not incarcerate, misdemeanor defendants.

The Enhanced Response to Homelessness Program includes:
o Pallet Shelters
o Bridge Housing
o Housing Navigation
o Mental Health Care
o Substance Abuse Treatment

In just the two years from 2020 to 2022 Redondo's homeless population plummeted 44%. 2023 saw another 16.5% drop.

Communities nationwide have replicated our compassionate, effective response to America's unhoused epidemic.
