Native plants are having a moment! But they are not just trendy, they are beneficial for your garden, for pollinators and other wildlife, for sustainability in our region, and for you the gardener. Because they are well-adapted to our climate and soils, they require not only less water but less care and tending. Win-win! Gail Langellotto, professor of horticulture and director of the BioResource Research program at Oregon State, will teach you how to use natives effectively.

Feels like summer! With this consistent warm weather it is time to give your landscape plants a good soaking! As the plants come out of dormancy they will begin to try and draw up water from the soil which is very dry right now. Get your garden hose out if your irrigation is not yet turned on and deep soak all of your plants especially the conifers, newer plants and larger trees so they do not dry out.

"All Things Seeds," that covers what seeds to buy for our short season, how to start them indoors, when and how to transplant them outdoors, and how to collect, clean and store seeds at the end of the season so you can use them next year. All the classes are free, but space is limited, so register right away at https://www.eventbrite.com/cc/2026-grow-your-own-food-free-classes-4805353.
