We’re now accepting submissions for our next 2-D display at Centennial Park—one of the most visible public art spaces in downtown Redmond. Selected artwork will be transformed into large-scale outdoor installations and featured for up to two years.

This year’s theme honors America 250, inviting artists to explore what the American experience means through their own lens.

Local Artists Invited to Apply for 2-D Display

City of Redmond’s Commission for Art in Public Places (RCAPP) is pleased to announce a call for Oregon artists to submit digital images of original two dimensional paintings for art display at Centennial Park. Selected artworks will be enlarged into five by five foot ACM (Aluminum Composite Material) panels and displayed outdoors for approximately two years. Two artists will be chosen—one for each side of a two sided display structure—offering a prominent large scale showcase of their work in the heart of downtown Redmond.

Interested artists and artists teams will want to review the Request for Proposals (RFP) available online at redmondoregon.gov/CalltoArtists and submit their proposal(s) before 11:59 p.m. PDT April 30, 2026. Have questions, contact RCAPP Liaison Cory Murray and 541-504-3062 or [email protected].

This year’s display honors America 250, the national commemoration of the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence. Artwork should reflect themes connected to the American experience—its diverse histories, landscapes, cultures, shared values, or community spirit. Artists are invited to interpret the theme broadly and creatively, expressing what “American” means through their own artistic perspective.

The 2 D display is located at Centennial Park, located on the north side of Evergreen Avenue between 7th and 9th Streets, directly across from Redmond City Hall.

Have you been wondering about the new mural on the side of the Cascade Mattress Building at 6th & Black Butte?

This RCAPP-sponsored piece was created by Bend, OR artists Megan Stumpfig and Hamid Naemeh, and it beautifully captures the spirit of Central Oregon.

The 6th Street wall highlights some of our most iconic nearby landscapes — Steelhead Falls, Smith Rock, and the Three Sisters — reimagined in a bold, playful, and dynamic style inspired by growing up in this region.

On the Black Butte side, the mural nods to Redmond’s early history, featuring a wagon and the tent houses used by early settlers when timber was scarce. Woven throughout both walls are native plants and wildlife — Indian paintbrush, sagebrush, juniper, pine, the Oregon swallowtail butterfly, and a red-tailed hawk — all resilient species deeply rooted in this land.

If you haven’t taken a closer look yet, this is your sign. Slow down, step back, and spend a few minutes with it. Public art is meant to be experienced.

We’d love to hear what you notice first. 💛
