A fun activity for kids!

The City of Redlands is pleased to offer the Kids Care Poster Contest for Redlands school and pre-school students of all ages. Have fun and help our community stay safe by entering the contest now through June 19. This contest is co-sponsored by the Redlands Chamber of Commerce, Citrograph Printing Co. and the Rochford Foundation.

Posters must promote all three elements of public safety recommended by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) during the coronavirus pandemic: (1) Wash hands, (2) wear a face mask and (3) practice social distancing (stay six feet apart). Designs may include drawing, painting, graphic art and words and can be either on regular 8 ½-inch by 11-inch paper or submitted digitally.

Grand prize winners will be chosen in each of three categories: Littles – ages 6 and under, Middles – 7 to 12 years, and teens 13 to 18 years old. We love all of Larry's murals around town! A great addition to public art in .

If you have taken a drive around Redlands you have likely seen the beautiful mural work created by Larry Dierdorff. His work brings a sense of nostalgia and takes you through a journey of Redlands from its beginnings to present day. Larry started teaching in the early 1980s and noticed that many of the handball walls that the kids were playing on were blank. He thought that these walls were the perfect blank canvas to inspire young minds and an opportunity to bring art and beauty to local public schools. Since then, Larry’s work can be seen at multiple schools throughout Redlands. He has restored and created many new stunning works of art that can be seen all over the City.

“Every dollar spent on the arts within the community has a multiplier effect,” said Allan Griesemer, chairman of the Redlands Arts Collaborative. “The challenge is that in spite of all these activities, we do not know the total economic impact of the arts on our community.”

The city and the Redlands Arts Collaborative are launching a series of surveys to determine the economic impact of the cultural arts in Redlands.
