🏆 1st Place at CFED 2026 Honoring a Legacy of Excellence in EMS 🚒

At this years , your Firefighter/Paramedics Craig Roach and Thomas Rivera proudly represented the Redlands Fire Department in the Patient Assessment Paramedic Competition, competing against 11 teams from across the state.

We are incredibly proud to share that Craig and Tommy earned 1st Place, bringing home the Mitch McKee Trophy, an honor that carries special meaning here in Redlands.

Mitch McKee, a longtime Redlands EMS Battalion Chief, was a pioneer in regional paramedicine whose passion for education and excellence helped shape generations of providers. His legacy lives on through the continued use of the PENMAN acronym, still taught in EMT and paramedic education today.

To have the Mitch McKee Trophy return home to the department Mitch helped shape is both humbling and deeply meaningful.

We’re also incredibly grateful to the outstanding paramedics and agencies who competed. Events like this help all of us sharpen our skills, learn from one another, and continue providing the highest level of care to our communities.

A special thank you to for investing in EMS education and bringing providers together, and to our educational partners at .ems.academy and for helping develop the exceptional paramedics serving our communities.

Craig and Tommy exemplify the professionalism, compassion, and clinical excellence we strive to provide every day in the City of Redlands.

Please join us in congratulating Firefighter/Paramedics Craig Roach and Thomas Rivera on an incredible accomplishment! 👏🚒❤️

Today, we pause to honor and remember the brave men and women of our Armed Forces who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our nation.

Because of their courage, dedication, and selflessness, we are able to enjoy the freedoms we often take for granted; time with family, moments with loved ones, and the strength of the communities we proudly serve.

As your service and sacrifice are values we hold close, and today we reflect with deep gratitude on those who gave everything for our country.

From all of us at the Redlands Fire Department, we remember the fallen, honor their legacy, and extend our heartfelt gratitude to our veterans, active-duty military, and Gold Star families.

🚨 LIFESAVING EQUIPMENT NOW AVAILABLE IN REDLANDS PARKS 🚨

Your Redlands Fire Department is proud to announce that public emergency response cabinets are now live at three City parks, providing rapid access to lifesaving equipment before first responders arrive.

Each cabinet is equipped with:
⚡ AED (Automated External Defibrillator)
🫁 Leave-behind Narcan for suspected opioid overdoses
🩸 Stop-the-Bleed trauma kit

These cabinets are designed to help during emergencies such as:
❤️ Cardiac arrest

🚑 Serious traumatic injuries

IMPORTANT: If an emergency happens at one of these park locations, call 911 immediately. Dispatchers can provide the access code to open the cabinet and walk callers through using the equipment while firefighters and paramedics are responding.

📍 Current cabinet locations:

🚒🐾 A close call on Pine Ave

This evening, your responded to a kitchen fire in the 600 block of Pine Ave. Crews arrived to find a fire that had largely been kept in check thanks to the quick actions of alert neighbors using a fire extinguisher prior to our arrival. 👏🧯

While the apartment sustained heavy smoke damage and required extensive ventilation by firefighters, this incident could have had a much more serious outcome. Thanks to early action and a fast 911 call, the damage and danger were significantly reduced.

And yes, one tiny family member made it out safely. 🐱❤️ Engineer Byers spent a little extra time making sure this kitten was cared for after being removed from the home.

A few important reminders from your Redlands Fire Department:

🔥 Never leave cooking unattended, most kitchen fires start when food is left on the stove or in the oven without supervision.
🧯 Keep a fire extinguisher accessible in or near your kitchen and know how to use it. A quick response in the early stages of a fire can make a major difference.
📞 Call 911 immediately and never put yourself in harm’s way trying to fight a fire that is spreading.

We’re grateful for neighbors looking out for one another and thankful this family avoided a far worse outcome tonight.

Our hearts are with the victim, their loved ones, and all those affected by this tragic incident. We extend our deepest condolences during this incredibly difficult time.

We would also like to acknowledge the neighbors who acted quickly to assist, helping move the victim to safety and providing aid prior to our arrival. One person confirmed dead in residential structure

One person was confirmed dead following a structure fire at a residence in the 100 block of Wabash Avenue Sunday, May 10.
The Redlands Fire Department responded to a reported structure fire at a single-story residence at about 5:30 p.m. Upon arrival, firefighters encountered the rear of the structure well-involved in fire and located a 76-year-old burn victim in the front driveway.
