The Highway Division of Goodhue County Public Works is responsible for providing a safe and convenient road and bridge system for residents and travelers within the county. Our staff provides expertise in the areas of planning, design, and construction. The Public Works Department staff is also responsible for issuing Driveway/Access Permits, Drainage Permits, Utility Permits, and Transportation

Permits for over-width/overweight loads on county roads. Lake Byllesby Park, located west of Cannon Falls, is developed and maintained by the Public Works Department. The Solid Waste Division is responsible for recycling, household hazardous waste, solid waste, and wetland management. The department operates a Recycling Center in Red Wing, as well as eight other recycling drop-boxes throughout the county.

CSAH 1 (Bench Street) will be reduced to one lane in each direction for the day this Wednesday, July 22, while crews perform pavement inspection for a future project.

The used oil collection tank at the Goodhue County Recycling Center is now open again during business hours. Please check with staff inside the main building before dumping if you think your oil may be contaminated. Thank you!

The recycling drop-off containers have been removed from the Cannon Valley Fairgrounds and will NOT be re-installed at the end of the fair. The Goodhue County Highway shops in Vasa and Spring Garden areas will continue to offer recycling drop-off conatiners.

The used oil collection tank at the Recycling Center will be reopened Monday, June 15th. PLEASE BE SURE THAT ONLY USED ENGINE OIL IS DUMPED INTO THE TANK. Even a few ounces of parts cleaner, brake cleaning fluid, or other chemicals will require us to close the tank again, which is both inconvenient and expensive for taxpayers. If there is any chance your oil may be contaminated, please contact an employee in the main Recycling Center building. The oil recycling tank will be available Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m. excluding holidays.
