Kylie got right to work. On her first day of internship, she went with Amanda to show off two of her goats to some of our partnership kids. They had a blast feeding and petting the goats!

We welcome Kylie as our summer intern!

She just finished her freshman year of college. She is studying Agriculture Business and is also a member of the softball team, FCA, and the Ag business club.

Kylie grew up in the Goodhue County 4-H program, so you might recognize her from around the fairgrounds.

This summer, Kylie will be helping organize and lead day camps, activities, and events at the fairgrounds. She looks forward to meeting new youth members, working with families and volunteers, and helping create fun memories for everyone involved.

Today's the day - we can't wait to see you tonight for COMET!

COMET is a two-hour interactive training program designed to help people support others who may seem sad, anxious, distracted, or depressed. It teaches a simple strategy that friends, neighbors, and colleagues can use to engage with somebody who may be suffering with moderate depression or anxiety before a crisis occurs. COMET aligns with rural cultural values of neighbor helping neighbor and communities being their own best resource.

COMET will be hosted at the Goodhue Lions Community Center on May 27, 2026. Supper and resource tables will be available beginning at 6pm, with the training starting at 6:30. Goodhue County 4-H staff and volunteers will be providing activities for youth to allow parents to attend and participate fully.

Last week our 4-H sheep project met at the farm of Al and Annie Fox to learn about show lamb nutrition, leg care and artificial insemination. Thanks for hosting!

Our youth had a great time learning about EPD’s, genetic selection, and hearing from an AI company representative who discussed AI tools, heat signs, and let the youth do some hands-on practice with reproductive tracts.

Registration for Youth Tractor and Farm Safety Training is now open! We'll be holding one in Goodhue County July 15-16.

The Youth Tractor and Farm Safety Training teaches youth 14 years and older about safe equipment operation and general farm safety. You can learn more at: z.umn.edu/TractorSafetyReg26
