Until proven otherwise the story going around on Facebook about a meteor hitting somewhere around Red Rock is a hoax. If you look closely at the picture that is not the town of Red Rock. There story sounds believable when you read it but I have talked to county dispatch and there is no record of any calls on it.

We are now in a tornado watch through this evening. We are monitoring the weather as it could change fast. 🚨 TORNADO WATCH ISSUED 🚨

The National Weather Service has issued a TORNADO WATCH for Newkirk, Oklahoma and surrounding areas effective:

🕔 5:15 PM TODAY
🕛 UNTIL MIDNIGHT

⚠️ WHAT THIS MEANS:
Conditions are favorable for the development of tornadoes and severe thunderstorms. Stay alert and be prepared to take action if warnings are issued.

🌪️ POSSIBLE HAZARDS:
• Tornadoes
• Damaging winds (60+ mph)
• Large hail
• Heavy rain & dangerous lightning

🏠 BE PREPARED:
• Have multiple ways to receive weather alerts
• Identify your safe place (lowest level, interior room, away from windows)
• Charge phones and keep weather radios on
• Stay weather-aware throughout the evening

🚨 REMEMBER:

🌩 Severe Weather Update 🌩 (SUNDAY 4/26)

There is a risk for Severe Weather again later this evening. Storms that develop would become strong to severe with the potential for damaging winds, large hail, and possibly tornadoes 🌪

Make sure you have a way to receive weather alerts, especially overnight, and know where you would go if a warning is issued for our area.

Stay weather-aware and be ready to take action if need be.

Come by the fire station this evening for some good treats!!! We have apples, uncrustable PB&J's, and Ramen Noodle cups with a little candy!!! A little different stuff but sure to be good!!!
