On behalf of the Taos County Sheriff’s Office, the Red River Marshal’s Office would like to encourage the community to help honor the life and service of Sgt. Joe Apodaca of the Taos County Sheriff’s Office.

Community members are encouraged to place flowers, stuffed animals, cards, and notes of condolences on Sgt. Apodaca’s truck, which is parked at the new Taos County Sheriff’s Office located at 226 Cruz Alta Rd. in Taos, just past Walgreens.

Sgt. Apodaca was a brother in law enforcement, a mentor, and a friend to many throughout Northern New Mexico. Let us come together as a community to show our love, support, and gratitude for his service and sacrifice.

Please continue to keep his family, friends, and the Taos County Sheriff’s Office in your thoughts and prayers during this incredibly difficult time.

We are heartbroken by the sudden passing of Sergeant Joseph Apodaca of the Taos County Sheriff’s Office. We had the privilege of working alongside Sgt. Apodaca and came to know him as an honorable, hardworking, and family-oriented man. He was more than a colleague to us—we considered him a brother, a friend, and a mentor.

Sgt. Apodaca served his community with dedication, integrity, and quiet strength. His commitment to public safety and the people of Taos County did not go unnoticed, and his impact will be felt far beyond his years of service.

Our thoughts and prayers are with his family, friends, and our brothers and sisters at the Taos County Sheriff’s Office during this difficult time.

Rest easy, Sarge. Your watch has ended, but your legacy will continue.

👀 Looks like someone found the all-you-can-eat breakfast buffet on Silver Bell this morning…👀

This morning’s guest checked in early, helped himself to the complimentary bird seed, and left a 5-star review:

“Great service. Zero effort required. Will absolutely be back.”

Let’s shut down the porch buffets before we end up fully booked with unwanted guests.

Help keep bears wild (and out of your breakfast nook)🐾
