Meet our black bears, Bo and Bluebeary! 🐻

Bluebeary will turn 21 years old this year and has been at YWS since she was a cub. She is incredibly smart, loves enrichment, and on hot days you’ll often find her enjoying a shower! Believe it or not, one of her favorite foods is blueberries! 🫐

Bo is our male black bear who will turn 19 this year. This bear knows how to relax! Most afternoons, he can be found lounging in his hammock or munching on dog kibble.

This week is Bear Education Week! Throughout the week, we’ll be highlighting bear safety education on our social media leading up to YWS’s People Awareness Day on May 23rd.

Event Highlights:
• Keeper Talks at 11 AM & 1 PM
• Bear Safety Presentation at 12:15 PM
• Bear Spray Training with Inert Cans
• Games & Activities
• Food Truck

Bob LOVES scent enrichment! This week, he explored a box sprayed with perfume. Bobcats have an incredibly strong sense of smell, which makes scent enrichment especially important, as it stimulates their natural curiosity and encourages exploratory behaviors.
