Unfortunately, there is some hesitancy to post on social media these days because posts can get hijacked, and/or comments can get mean and nasty to one another. For this post, we appreciate everyone taking it for exactly what it was, a silly April Fools' joke, and thank you all for simply having some fun with it. For the few that didn't get it...there will NOT be a 14-hour school day tomorrow. 🤣🤣 Enjoy the long weekend, and Happy Easter!!

We have had two snow days this school year, and rather than making those days up in May, we are going to amend our calendar and combine two school days into one, THIS FRIDAY, April 3rd, which was previously a day of non-attendance for Easter break. To make up two days THIS FRIDAY, we'll start school at both RBES and RBHS at 6:00 AM and dismiss at 10:00 PM. We will serve both breakfast and lunch, but students are encouraged to bring additional food because we will not be serving dinner. Deliveries such as DoorDash will be accepted. Please note that bus pick-up will be 2 hours earlier and drop-off 7 hours later. We appreciate your attention to this matter and hope you enjoy not having an additional 2 days in May.

Red Bud Community Unit School District #132 is accepting sealed bids for the sale of the following two surplus activity buses, sold "AS IS, WHERE IS" with no warranties, express or implied:

Bus 1: 2011 Chevrolet Collins MFSAB, 14-passenger, VIN: 1GB3G2BG6B1111779, Mileage: 104,645
Bus 2: 2011 Chevrolet Collins MFSAB, 14-passenger, VIN: 1GB3G2BG7B1110513, Mileage: 97,065

Bids will be accepted from January 21, 2026, through February 13, 2026, at 12:00 Noon CST. Bidders may submit offers for one bus or both, but must clearly specify which bus(es) the bid applies to (e.g., "Bus 1 only," "Both buses," etc.). Bids for both must include separate amounts for each if desired.

Sealed bids must be submitted in a sealed envelope clearly marked on the outside: "Activity Bus Bid – [Bidder Name]"

Bids will be publicly opened at 12:00 Noon on February 13, 2026, in the Superintendent's Office.

The highest responsive bid(s) will be contacted later that day. Full payment is required prior to or at the time of pickup (cash, certified check, or as otherwise arranged). Buses must be removed within 5 business days of notification.

The buses are available for inspection at the Transportation lot, 515 Mill St., Red Bud, IL. Contact Cari at the Transportation Garage at (618) 282-3131 between 9:00 AM and 11:00 AM weekdays for questions or to arrange a viewing.

With sadness, we share the news of Vernon's passing. Vernon Koester was a dedicated custodian and groundskeeper for our school district for 16 years, quietly making our schools and grounds shine brighter for students and staff every day.
