🌧️🚧 Protect Our Waterways: Control Construction Runoff! 🚧🌧️
As our community continues to grow, construction is a sign of progress—but it also comes with responsibility. Improperly managed construction sites can allow sediment-laden stormwater, debris, and pollutants to wash into our storm drains, streams, and rivers.
💧 Why it matters:
Stormwater runoff from construction sites can contaminate local waterways, harm aquatic life, clog our infrastructure, and increase localized flooding risks. Clean water is essential for our environment, public health, and quality of life!
🛠️ What are EPSC measures?
Erosion Prevention and Sediment Control (EPSC) measures are required safeguards used at construction sites to keep soil and pollutants where they belong—on-site. Examples include:
✅ Silt fences
✅ Sediment basins
✅ Stabilized construction entrances
✅ Proper grading and post-construction seeding
👷 Everyone plays a role:
Contractors, developers, and property owners must properly install and maintain EPSC measures, especially before rain events. If you're unsure about the installation, reach out to the City's stormwater team for guidance and installation tips.
🌱 See something, say something:
If you notice a construction site where runoff may be escaping, please report it to the City so we can help keep Red Bank’s waterways clean and safe!
Together, we can build responsibly and protect the natural resources that make Red Bank a great place to live! 💙
