There are very fragile eco-systems living in streams that I never knew existed before I started monitoring my stream.

Community Action Workshop

12/15/2025

Yesterday, the Maidencreek Watershed Association met at our farm and braved the cold wind for a quick tour of our silvopasture and riparian stream buffer. My dad and I are members of this group which is focused on keeping the streams and waterways in our watershed clean and healthy!

If you have noticed more trees planted in Maidencreek Township at the local park, the dog park, and at Andrew Maier, many members of this group helped to plant and are doing long term care on these trees in our community. Interested in helping out, have ideas for tree plantings or water quality? We meet monthly on the second Tuesday of the month at the Ontalaunee Township Building at 4:30 pm. Join us!

💧 Happy World Water Monitoring Day! 💧

The volunteers of Berks Nature's watershed associations are the quiet but diligent guardians of our county's watersheds. While routine water monitoring is often uneventful, last September David George, from the Angelica Creek Watershed Association, woke up to a very surprising data report!

Read on to hear how David sprang into action to protect the Angelica Creek!

At our last Maiden Creek Watershed Association meeting, we had the pleasure of touring Andrew Maier Elementary School's "Learning by Nature" project which was led by former staff member and creator, Connie Cammarano. Projects like this help to improve the quality of life for the students and create biodiversity. Can't wait to see what it will look like in the spring and summer!!
