Earlier this month the Reading Select Board unanimously approved a proclamation recognizing August 31, 2026, as Overdose Awareness Day, joining communities worldwide in honoring those lost to overdose and supporting prevention, treatment, and recovery efforts. Today The LINK by Circuit began serving Reading and Wakefield directly (with additional service to Lahey Hospital in Burlington and Wi******er Hospital) as a free 2-year pilot program funded by MassDOT’s Microtransit and Last Mile Transit Program through a regional partnership with Wakefield, Woburn, and Burlington.

When Austin Lee graduated from high school, he left behind more than memories in his yearbook. In the section asking students to name their dream job, Austin wrote that he hoped to work for the The Savannah Bananas. On Saturday, August 29, that dream became a reality at Gillette Stadium.

I’m pleased to share that RCTV’s inaugural movie night was a wonderful success. Congratulations to Executive Director Deirdre Morales, Angela Merrill, and the entire RCTV team. I’m sorry I was unable to attend but maybe next time if it’s Monty Python!

PSA: High Street will be closed from Washington Street to Woburn Street from July 14 through July 17 for construction, including overnight work on Thursday, July 16.

Just a reminder, 𝐭𝐨𝐝𝐚𝐲 𝐢𝐬 𝐉𝐮𝐥𝐲 𝟏𝟑𝐭𝐡. Despite multiple emails and advance notices sent to businesses in the area, many were still caught off guard this Monday morning. That level of last-minute disruption is unacceptable.

This post is simply to clarify that when a digital billboard, notices and social media posts say “July 14,” it should actually mean July 14.

Before tonight’s important vote on Article 14, following the Town budget discussion, I decided to attend the spring season opener for the Reading Unified Basketball Team.

What I witnessed was truly inspiring. Every kid on the court played with great energy and skill, and the rotations every four minutes allowed all participants to be actively involved. The pace, teamwork, and flow of the game felt just like a real basketball game.

Best of all, the score was tied 70-70 with just six seconds remaining when Reading pushed the ball down the court and hit a buzzer-beater to win 72-70. It was an absolutely incredible finish!

I’m so glad I got to see firsthand what Article 14’s funding will help support. I hope the article passes unanimously tonight and sends a clear message that “All Means All” in Reading.

Here are my thoughts on tomorrow’s April 7th election. I strongly encourage you to take an hour and watch the RCTV Select Board meeting I linked. Ask yourself whether what you’ve been hearing lines up with reality. That meeting shows how local government is supposed to operate and hopefully how it will move forward.
