Temporary Road Closures - Thundercastle Road

May 20 (7:00am to 3:00pm) & May 21 (7:00am to 12:00pm) - No Through Traffic

Wednesday, May 20: Thundercastle Road will be closed between Mountain View Lane and Stonewall Drive from approximately 7:00am to 3:00pm for a cross culvert replacement.

Thursday, May 21: Thundercastle Road will be closed just north of #153 near Torsey Shores Road from approximately 7:00am to 12:00pm for a cross culvert replacement.

Access to all residences will remain available from either end of the closures, but there will be no through traffic. Emergency services will have access if needed.

We're Hiring!

Full-time Transfer Station Position: The Town of Readfield has an immediate opening for a full-time Transfer Station Attendant. This position is responsible for customer service, organizational work, and assisting with the operation of the Transfer Station’s solid waste and recycling programs. Pay is $19.37 per hour effective July 1. Exceptional health, retirement, sick and vacation accrual, and other benefits are provided.

4/15/2026: UPDATE on the Brush Pile Area at the Transfer Station:

Work on the brush pile area is now complete! To allow the added material to fully settle and dry, no brush will be accepted at this time.

Weather permitting, we hope to reopen the area within one week. We will provide further updates as the situation changes. Thank you for your patience as we work to improve your transfer station!

3/27/2026: IMPORTANT: Brush Pile Announcement at the Transfer Station
Last Updated: March 27, 2026 - 1:20pm
The Transfer Station is starting major improvements on the brush pile area beginning April 1st and will temporarily stop accepting all brush.

Please take notice of the schedule changes:

Now through Sunday (March 29): Limit of ONE load per customer.
Starting April: No brush accepted until further notice.
If your cleanup isn't an emergency, the crew would greatly appreciate it if you could hold onto your brush until the work is finished! This helps them get the upgrades done faster for everyone.
