Detectives Seeking Information in February Road Rage Shooting

Raytown Police detectives are asking for the public’s help as they continue to investigate a road rage shooting that occurred in February.

On February 12th, 2026, at approximately 4:30 pm, Raytown officers responded to the intersection of 350 Hwy & Sterling for a report of a subject shot. An adult male was located in a gray Mazda 3 with a gunshot wound and was transported to the hospital for treatment.

Detectives have continued to investigate the incident and are now asking anyone who may have witnessed what happened, or who has information that could help identify the person or vehicle involved, to come forward.

Even if you did not speak with officers at the time, information you remember from that day may still be helpful.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Tips Hotline at 816-474-TIPS (8477) regarding Raytown report number 26-0385. To protect the integrity of the investigation, please do submit tips or identify individuals in comments or on social media.

On the evening of August 29th, Officers from the Raytown Traffic Enforcement Unit with the assistance of Night Patrol Squad’s 1 and 2 participated in the Saturation Saturday event for the Kansas City Metro Area hosted by Mothers Against Drunk Driving.

During the course of the evening Officers collectively conducted 50 traffic stops which resulted in:

- 3 Arrests for Driving While Intoxicated
- 1 Arrest for Driving While Suspended
- 17 Moving Violation Citations
- 19 Non-Moving Violation Citations
- 3 Vehicles Fled from Officers

We at the Raytown Police Department would like to thank MADD Heartland for allowing our participation in the event. We look forward in conducting further enforcement to remove intoxicated and/or impaired drivers from the roadways.

Last week, Raytown Police completed one of our two annual active shooter trainings with Raytown Fire Protection District, Metro Public Safety, and Raytown C-2 School District.

This training is designed to coordinate with all responding agencies in a realistic training environment to strengthen interagency communication, coordination, and response procedures.
