🌾 Rice Research Station Open House – Happening Today! 🌾

Producers and anyone interested in rice production are invited to join us for the Rice Research Station Open House series. These events provide a great opportunity to visit the station, learn more about ongoing research, and engage directly with faculty in an informal, discussion-friendly setting. It’s a chance to ask questions, share insights, and stay informed on the latest developments affecting rice production.

The first open house is being held today at the Station’s South Farm and will continue until noon. Today’s focus is on w**d management, a critical issue for many producers.

As with most open house events, you are welcome to come and go at your convenience—stay for just a short visit or spend more time in discussion with our faculty.

Additional open house events will be scheduled throughout the season, each highlighting different research areas and current challenges facing rice producers. Details on those events will be shared as they are finalized.

There is still time to join us today at the South Farm—we look forward to seeing you there!

🎉 Charles and Rose Broussard Internship Award 🎉

We are pleased to announce that Ms. Lily Perrin has been selected as the recipient of the Charles and Rose Broussard Internship, a program designed to give students valuable, real‑world experience in agricultural research while strengthening their interest in careers in agriculture and agricultural science.

The Broussard Internship offers students the opportunity to conduct their internship at one of three LSU AgCenter research facilities: the H. Rouse Caffey Rice Research Station, the Iberia Research Station, or the Dean Lee Research Station. Ms. Perrin has chosen to complete her internship at the Rice Research Station, where she will be working in the W**d Science Project under the supervision of Dr. Connor Webster.

Ms. Perrin is a graduating senior at Kaplan High School and plans to enroll at McNeese State University this fall, where she will pursue a degree in Agricultural Sciences with concentrations in Agribusiness and Animal Science. Her academic interests and career goals align well with the hands‑on research experience provided through this internship.

We thank the Broussard family for their continued commitment to supporting student development and agricultural education. Congratulations to Ms. Perrin—we look forward to her contributions and wish her great success during her internship and future studies!
