FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Mire Volunteer Fire Department/Acadia Parish Fire District 7 Protection Rating Improves to Class 3
MIRE, LA — June 1, 2026 — Acadia Parish Fire District No. 7 is proud to announce that the Property Insurance Association of Louisiana (PIAL) has officially upgraded the Mire Area Public Protection Classification (PPC) from a Class 4 to a Class 3, effective July 1, 2026.
The improved classification reflects the continued commitment of Acadia Parish Fire District No. 7 and the Mire Volunteer Fire Department to enhancing fire protection services and emergency response capabilities for the residents and businesses of the Mire community.
According to PIAL's classification report, Fire District No. 7 earned an overall score of 78.07, placing the district within the requirements for a Class 3 rating.
What This Means for Property Owners
Beginning July 1, 2026, all properties located within the graded area and within the required distance of a recognized fire station will qualify for Class 3 fire protection ratings. In many cases, improved fire protection classifications may positively impact homeowners' and commercial property insurance premiums, depending on individual insurance carriers and policy provisions.
Additionally, PIAL noted that credit is being allowed for water hauling operations, and the distance requirement to standard fire hydrants has been waived for the graded area.
