🚧 Big things coming to LA Hwy 1096! 🚧

Rayne City Marshal and Governor Jeff Landry, along with other local community leaders, were on hand today for the groundbreaking of the LA Hwy 1096 rehabilitation project right here in Acadia Parish.

If you’ve driven this road lately, you already know it’s been needing some attention. With all the potholes and rough spots, this is a much-needed fix for our community.

We also want to recognize our local leadership—this project came after a request from Acadia Parish Police Jury President Beau Petitjean, who worked to bring this much-needed improvement to our area.

We’re thankful to see the State stepping in and working alongside local leaders to make travel safer for everyone who uses Soldier Road and N. Riceland every day.

It’s always good to see folks coming together to take care of home. 💛

❄️ WINTER WEATHER CLOSURE & SAFETY REMINDERS ❄️

Due to the expected winter weather, the Rayne City Marshal’s Office and Rayne City Court will be closed on Monday, January 26, 2026.

Normal business hours are expected to resume on Tuesday, January 27, 2026. If the closure is extended for any reason, this post will be updated.

Now, while we’re all staying warm, a few reminders from your friends at the Marshal’s Office:

👉If someone gets on your nerves these next few days or your patience feels a little thin, do the right thing: Put on a jacket, sip some hot chocolate, and mind ya business.

🔥 Space heaters: Keep them at least 3 feet away from anything that might turn into a bonfire.

🚗 Vehicles: Warm them up outside — carbon monoxide is deadly.

👣 Walkways & steps: Watch for slick spots and take your time to avoid falls.

🚰 Water lines: Some residents may choose to turn off water at the meter and drain pipes from the lowest exterior point of the home as a precaution during freezing temperatures. Opening cabinets under sinks can also help warm air circulate.

🧣 Exposed pipes: Adding insulation may help reduce the risk of freezing or damage.

🔎 After temperatures rise: It’s a good idea to check for leaks, as freezing and thawing can sometimes cause shifts in plumbing.

🛠️ Water shut-off: Knowing where your shut-off valve is located can be helpful in case of an unexpected issue.

Please use your best judgment based on your home and conditions. Stay warm, stay safe, and look out for one another.

The holiday season is always a special time in Rayne, and this year was no different. It was a busy few weeks filled with opportunities to serve, give back, and help spread a little extra joy throughout our community.

This season, the Marshal’s Office, along with the generosity of Wright Decor, was thankful to donate two Christmas trees to Rayne families who otherwise may not have had one. Small acts of kindness can mean so much, especially during the holidays, and we were grateful to be part of that moment for these families. 🎄

We also had the privilege of escorting the Rayne Volunteer Fire Department as Santa visited our local daycares and elementary schools. Seeing the excitement and smiles on our children’s faces was a reminder of how important community connection truly is. 🚒🎅

The Marshal was also honored to take part in the Rayne Christmas Parade, celebrating the season alongside friends, neighbors, and families who make this town such a special place to call home.

The holidays are about togetherness, compassion, and looking out for one another. Thank you to everyone who helped make this season brighter, and thank you to the Rayne community for allowing us to serve you. ❤️

The Rayne City Marshal’s Office and Rayne City Court will be closed today through Friday to allow our employees to spend time with their family and friends.

We wish everyone a Christmas season filled with peace, laughter, and good company — with just the right amount of holiday chaos.

Because every good holiday needs a few ground rules 👇

🚗 Drive like you’ve got a sleigh full of presents and Grandma’s gumbo in the back — have you seen those Louisiana potholes? You’ll lose more than the gumbo!
🎁 If your “holiday cheer” comes in a glass, make sure your ride home is powered by someone on hot cocoa duty. ☕
🔥 Watch those lights and candles — we’d like your tree to sparkle, not spark.
🗣️ And if the family debates start heating up, just pass the dessert and change the subject — it works every time. 😉

May your lights be bright, your eggnog be right, and your hearts be full this Christmas. 🎄
