❄️ Winter Weather Update – Hinds County❄️
A wintry mix is expected to move into the region as early as Friday afternoon, spreading south and continuing through Sunday morning (midnight Friday–6 AM Sunday).

⚠️Potential impacts include:
• Hazardous travel conditions
• Downed trees
• Power outages

In addition, an Elevated threat for dangerously cold temperatures is expected Friday night through the weekend.
Now is the time to prepare and limit travel if conditions worsen. Please continue to monitor the latest forecasts and official updates as this system develops.

📢 How You Can Prepare Now:
1. Stock up on food, water, and other needed supplies.
2. Wrap exposed pipes.
3. Fill up gas tanks ahead of time.
4. Check on elderly and vulnerable family members, neighbors, and friends.
5. Make a plan for pets. Dogs and cats should not be left outside in freezing temperatures.
6. Allow water faucets to drip slowly during freezing temperatures to help prevent broken pipes and protect the city’s water system.
7. Stay off frozen roads and avoid travel during dangerous conditions.
8. Leave roadways clear for emergency personnel and first responders.
9. Steer clear of downed power lines. Report them to Entergy at 1-800-ENTERGY (1-800-368-3749) or call 911.

THE TREE IS HERE!

What a fun day kicking off the Christmas Holiday in Raymond. Special thanks to Gaddis Farms for donating an amazing Christmas Tree for the City of Raymond.

Another special thanks to Raymond Public Works, Josh Ammons, Joe Fowler, Dannie Kimple, Tommy Pullen and Shawn Thomas; Chief Hataway and Captain Barlow; Marcus Buffington and the Criterion Construction Crew; James Christian with Hinds County District 4; Ben Washburn and Jake Kirby with Gaddis Farms for their help cutting, loading, transporting, unloading, and setting up this amazing Christmas Tree.

Lastly, much appreciation to those citizens that came out to video, photograph, wave and cheer on this special occasion. It definitely was a joyous one!

ATTENTION: City Hall in the City of Raymond will NOT be able to take water payments or court payments on Wednesday, November 19, 2025. We are conducting system upgrades and will not have access to our billing system.

Today was a great day in Raymond! Colonel Jeremiah Gipson along with Greg Anderson from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers met with Mayor Harris at City Hall to make our $750,000 grant official! These funds are being awarded to the City by the Corps of Engineers specifically for wastewater improvements. The City of Raymond would like to send a HUGE thank you to everyone involved in making this happen! GREAT THINGS ARE HAPPENING!

Attention Everyone! The Great Raymond Christmas Tree hunt of 2025 is officially underway! Our own Mayor Harris has been travelling far and wide searching for the perfect tree! No Luck Yet, so that's where we need YOU! Be on the lookout for a 20-30 ft, perfectly full, cedar tree that we can display right here in our Historic Downtown Raymond! The City of Raymond would like to send a huge shout out to Hinds Community College Women's Soccer Team, Hinds Community College Phi Theta Kappa (PTK), and the Raymond Garden Club for coming together and working hard to keep our town beautiful!
